To not see anything wrong with people selling items given for free

I just think fair play to people who do this but it seems to anger many

Each to their own. I’d probably do another hand-me-down where possible because I’m big on “what goes around, comes around”, but also wouldn’t judge someone for selling if they needed to extra cash.

YANBU. I don't get why people get so worked up about it.

If I gave someone a gift I wouldn't mind if they got a refund from the shop, or exchanged it. So selling it is no difference. If they needed the money more than the item and could be arsed to go through the whole selling process then what's the problem?
If the person who gave it to them wanted to sell it themselves they could've done.

It depends.

If someone has put on a big sob story as to why they need the item, and why they are worthy of getting it over others ,then I think its pretty crappy to then sell it on.

But if no sob story or just given hand me downs or whatever, then I dont see the issue either

Selling once you’ve finished using something you were given for free? Fine. It’s now yours.
Accepting something for free that you don’t need in order to sell on for a profit? Veering into CF territory.

I once sold an item on a small local whatsapp group for £30. The person collected it eventually, after failing to show twice. They immediately re-sold the same item for £70 on the same whatsapp group. At least sell it somewhere else!
