And how much?

So if mumsnet has 5000 subscribers but no fees, how does it make money?

Advertising revenue and paid partnerships/sponsorship.

fotevers · 11/10/2024 00:03

Ads and sponsors.

Really not that difficult to work out.

MonsteraMama · 11/10/2024 00:03

You know the twenty fucktillion really annoying and often site breaking ads that are on every post? That.

Plus sponsorship deals.

movingonok · 11/10/2024 00:11

But would it be that much? To pay for whole staff teams etc?

Oh good, can you break it down please as you know details. Per clicks or site visit, what are the rates? Any details welcome

Paid advertising, affiliate link advertising and premium memberships. Although premium was sold as being ad free and wasn't so I cancelled.

MonsteraMama · 11/10/2024 00:18

I've got a friend who does YouTube. She's a pretty small channel and she still makes £300 or so a week in ad revenue alone. Mumsnet gets tens of thousands more views and clicks than her little channel so yeah, very feasible they can keep the place running well from ads and sponsors.

What else would it be? They're not going to be a front for the triad or something are they?

Firawla · 11/10/2024 00:21

It will be quite a lot because there is a large engaged audience so brand deals are probably gonna be more than average bloggers, and even with blogging people can make a full time income if they know what they are doing

are you doing a project or something?? They must earn a lot through advertising.

Ad revenue is massive
And the site is a large, well known site with many members so companies will want to be seen

And because it, in general, has a specific base (parents) then baby and child companies will be extra interested, paying for sponsored content as well as ads

I mean, its all over the site so it's kinda obvious

Data - so much data

as they say if you’re not paying for the product, you are the product

Nightowl1234 · 11/10/2024 03:44

Is this a joke? How can an adult be so clueless about how the world works?!

This. Plus an affluent demographic who spend a lot of time talking about what they like.

They probably cite MN at advertising school as a perfect example of where to sell your wares if you're looking to sell to middle to high income families.

Which means the advertising rates are probably comparatively high which means lots of revenue for the site.

I’ve enquired about advertising on here before for a previous company I worked for. Looking at the homepage now it’s Tesco, TUI other big brands who can afford the money Mumsnet charge.
