To go to GP with the flu?

I'm 3 weeks in to feeling rough, 2.5 weeks of intermittent high fever, aches and pains, productive cough, and I've now seemingly in the last few days developed a sinus infection.

I'm a 35 year old otherwise healthy mum of 3 but I've been really struggling with this. The fevers have been quite bad and I've been getting those Horrid electric shock pains in my joints and back.

The last week or so I've been really struggling with coughing, wheezing and not being able to catch a breath. I'm so weak I can't get up the stairs normally now, but still trying to soldier on with 3 kids and a wfh job (& a dh who's begrudgingly picking up extra school runs etc when I ask)

Is this just the flu? Im not sure if I'm justified in calling the GP tomorrow morning or not. I have bad judgement with these things (when it comes to my own health) as I have long term health conditions that make me anxious about seeking medical help.

Do not leave that bed OP, apart from the loo obviously 😁

Don't do what a lot of people (women) do, feel a bit guilty and then end up Hospitalised.

Definitely the doctor and you need some bed rest however hard to arrange. Get well soon

A bit harsh on DH 😂

So glad you are now getting the treatment you need. I really don’t understand how gps don’t see urgent cases. Luckily my gp will always see or phone triage on the day for urgent symptoms . I understand waiting for non urgent queries. Can any gps comment on why some gps don’t keep urgent on the day appointments for patients in urgent need.

I thought you would not be able to get out of bed with the flu but you do sound really ill

teatoast8 · 10/10/2024 19:30

Hope you feel better soon x

AddictedToBooks · 10/10/2024 19:31

I hope that you start to feel better soon

Absolutely shocking response from your GP when you tried to get an appointment! I'm so glad you got seen at urgent care, particularly as you've been diagnosed with pneumonia. Get well soon @CoughyGoLightly Flowers
