Thanks. I dont feel discouraged but am delighted with all of this genuine knowledge . Reading that I am indeed obese was not a shock but it did strike me that this is all futile if I dont cut body fat. I'm doing this for my heart, bones and joints as I am 50 and menopausal for last six years.
I often think I am a lot slimmer than I actually am, in the mirror !!!

Keep at it and you will definitely see a difference, fingers crossed! I am 46, so no spring chicken and had no issues getting a bit ripped, it just took some time. 1600 kcal is a very sensible deficit.

I got best results staying consistent and from pilates-inspired workouts. Les Mills Shapes brought more dramatic changes for me than lifting heavy weights.

An hour of weight training is quite a long time - you might find that you're better off really going for it for 20-30 mins 4x a week than an hour twice a week.

While PP aren't wrong that losing weight would help you see more definition faster, I am overweight and still saw some impact from weight training after 2-3 months. Some definition in shoulders, sleeker legs and better posture

I agree with this - I’ve weight trained for many years and to maintain high intensity for an hour is HARD and not realistic for someone starting out. If it’s the time you have though, you can make it work!

It sounds like you have lost weight and are starting to see changes - that is great!! I bet you are also starting to do more during your work outs as well.

I have 15kg to loose to get me into the highest end of normal, I am in week 4 of upping my exercise and avoiding cakes! I am targeting 12 weeks to see a sustained improvement and probably 6 months to loose 15kgs.

I would love to run but my pelvic floor, uterine and bladder prolapse and two knee injuries are a barrier.

Good luck and keep it up - see you back here in 7 weeks!!
