Husband is saying it’s nothing, but what is this on my face?

ThatLilacHedgehog · 08/10/2024 19:56

I have 2 red spots on my face, one is raised and the other is flat and they are near each other. I’ve asked my husband and he says it looks fine, my initial thought was bug bite, but they’ve been there for a couple of days now.

I’m visiting the pharmacy for advice tomorrow

am I being unreasonable in thinking this could be cancer?

Can’t really tell from the photos but if it doesn’t go away on its own go to the doctors.

I have psoriasis on my face and gets patches like this, but this could be anything. Some types of skin cancers do look red.

Completelyjo · 08/10/2024 20:01

A couple of days is really too early to say if it’s skin cancer. Take regular photos and keep an eye on it over the next week or two looking out for changes.

purplecorkheart · 08/10/2024 20:01

Sun damage? Best get it checked by someone who knows what they are looking at.

PersephoneAgrees · 08/10/2024 20:03

Go and see a pharmacist to put your mind at rest, it's probably just sun damage.

SendMeHomeNow · 08/10/2024 20:05

I’ve had similar for years and asked the GP to check them. She said definitely not skin cancer. That’s doesn’t mean your isn’t though of course. Always best to check. As others have said I’d start with a pharmacist. Even if they say not to worry, I’d still mention it next time you’re at the GP, just to put your mind at rest.

Ibloodylovetea · 08/10/2024 20:11

I'd get it checked out - if only for your peace of mind OP x

Thank you, I’m glad yours wasn’t skin cancer! May I ask did yours get any bigger or stay the same?

does sun damage get bigger? If this does end up being sun damage do you think it will get bigger?

How old are you OP?

I have something similar on my shoulder. Told it's an age thing. I'm very early 50s

Cozylozy · 09/10/2024 21:57

See a GP for full piece of mind

PlantDoctor · 09/10/2024 21:58

I would leave it for a few more days to see what happens. I would expect them to go away. If they don't, then speak to GP, but as others have said, two days is no time at all.

If it’s only been there a few days then leave it be. If it’s not sore or annoying you then moisturise it.
skin cancer doesn’t pop up in 3 days.
if it’s still there in 2 weeks see your gp.
do you have health anxiety?

It’s been around 4 days now, think it’s faded slightly but still there, do you think it looks worrisome? Thank you

Looks like seborrheic hyperplasia from that picture. I’m not a medical professional though, just someone who has it myself. Have a Google of that term and see what you think.

That said, I would always get something like that checked, though for something new, I’d give it a week or so first to see if it resolves on its own (providing it’s not causing any issues like being sore, bleeding etc).

Thank you, that does look very similar! Can I ask did yours get any bigger? Thank you

It’s sun damage, solar keratosis . Just keep an eye on it. Routine appointment with GP.
Has probably been there for ages but you have only just noticed

I’ll get an apt, do they fade at all? Or do they get any bigger? Thanks for your help

I’ve got a few patches of it. Some are on my forehead and are tiny spots that never grow (they just look like pimples)…and then one patch on the side of the bridge of my nose that did grow..that’s when I got it checked out and it was diagnosed as Seb H.

Ok, I’ll leave it, I thought it could be a bug bite, but it’s been 4-5 days now, do you think this looks like something that may grow or possibly just a spot/bite?

i do over worry about things like this ahaha, so I probably do have some health anxiety, but I’ll definitely visit the doc in 2 weeks

I had this, but mine got bigger and ended up getting raised, (I could feel it with my fingers after a while) and very dry too. I got rid of it by putting on a mixture of coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, turmeric (organic is best). Don't leave it on for more than 20 minutes at a time or the turmeric will stain your skin. I put it on several times a day for a week or so. Within 2/3 days it was no longer raised and couldn't be felt, by the end of the week it had gone and it's never come back. These ingredients are all incredible for your skin and for healing.

This is amazing, do you have any idea what could have caused it? I’m going to try this
