To ask what you would do about the internet?

Imagine you were given two choices.

First, the internet would disappear and never reappear. It would be like it never existed in the first place, all harms undone, but also anything positive also undone.

OR

Second, everything just carries on as it is now (in respect of the internet)

Which would you choose?

And before anyone asks, no, there isn’t a middle way - it’s one or the other.

Keep it. I'm a 1950s babe. I remember life BI and AI (before internet/after internet). AI is much more productive and makes life much easier.Four examples off the top of my head:

. no having to go to the library to trawl through library books to find an answer to something
. no having to phone and pay a tradesman to come fix a broken oven door (generally a few days later) when a U-Tube vid gives you the solution to fix it yourself in 10 minutes
. no having to go to the old Somerset House in London to trawl through the big chained books of register indices to find the reference for the birth certificate of THAT particular ancestor you are hunting down (I'm an amateur genealogist!)
. being able to do my weekly shop online and have it delivered to my door the next day is brilliant

Yes, there are downsides, porn, certain SM etc. but overall, in my world, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages...
