Please help - nice sunglasses/lenses for light sensitivity - autism and migraines

Posting in AIBU for traffic - I really need some help and googles given all sorts of answers.

I am autistic and really struggle with light sensitivity. I am still in my twenties and have 3/4 massive indents on my head (you could call them caves or make up collectors).

I want to treat myself to some raybans that have better lenses after having shein 1 pound glasses on. Yeah I know its bad just since my last holiday other bills have come up and this was a last priority at the time.

They have all sorts of lens and I want to know if anyone else can recommend which makes it easier to be outside or even inside with the blinds up. I have had other glasses but still struggle.

I also have migraines every day which is another problem.

Please if anyone has any experience of what lenses help I would be so grateful.

I'm sorry to hear you find this so hard. I live in the middle east where we have very bright sunshine all year round and when I upgraded from cheap department store fashion sunglasses to Raybans with polarised lenses, it really made a huge difference. The old ones have been relegated to the bag I grab when I walk the dog, and when I wear them I always wish I had the Raybans with me.

Try them in a store, if you're comfortable doing so - the assistant might be able to show you the difference between regular and polarised lenses. I hope you find a solution.

Thank you for responding to me! I will definitely opt for polarised then...

I wondered if the colour of the lens would make a difference to me also. Its a big investment. I hope I can manage to try some one but not really any stockists near me. Going to see if optician's stock the shapes I like but I didn't think the lens would be the same

I bought these a few weeks ago which have polarised lenses. I am also very sensitive to light and these work really well in bright sunshine but what I also love is that everything looks pretty true to real colour through them, it’s not dark or tinted a strange shade like a lot of sunglasses make things:

I suffer from migraines induced by bright sunlight. An optician friend told me designer sunglasses don't have better lenses than regular mid-priced sunglasses. so definitely don't wear the really cheap fashion ones but a £50 pair of polarised sunglasses from eg Boots will be as good as a designer pair apparently. I followed this advice and it's worked for me but that's because I can't trust myself to look after expensive sunglasses! Bad track record of dropping, scratching, breaking, losing etc (+ I have a pair in the house, pair in the car and pair in my bag so always covered)
