Breastfeeding jewellery

I don't really understand why you would want it, it's a bodily fluid. The idea of sending my bodily fluid through the post to some stranger to make it into a ring makes me feel a bit sick. I probably an being unreasonable but it can't just be me

You can use seamen for this too.

Jizzellery.

Poor sailors.

Sorry.

Makemyminduponeday · 04/10/2024 15:54

Never ever heard of this. Had to Google it to make sure it wasn't a wind up.
Each to their own but really I don't understand why any one would do this.

You can have jewellery made out of a bit of placenta or cord stump too. Now that is grim.

Why would anyone want to do this?

I dont know why that is any more grim than other bodily fluids?

Total ew for all of it - so long as you dont tell me what you are wearing I dont care really

It is a mystery. I saw an advert once for a company who would take a strip of placenta, dry it out and tie it into a bow you could hang on your Christmas tree. Just why?

Lovetosleep1 · 04/10/2024 16:27

I had no idea this was a thing. It wouldn't be something I would do, but we drink the breast milk of cows so there's definitely stranger things humans do with milk.

Breastmilk is at least something that's intended to be ingested so turns it for me from "euw just why" to "er, OK. Weird but whatever". With placenta and cord stump remaining firmly in the "euw just why?" side of the equation

Quoting didn't work, see above.

Still failing to see where I made fun of people.

Oldermum84 · 04/10/2024 16:38

Breast milk isn't gross. I wonder if you're vegan... If not you do know you are eating bodily fluids of animals. Surely that's more disgusting?

Indianajet · 04/10/2024 17:13

I have never heard of breast milk jewellery- I did breastfeed my children but can't imagine wanting to wear jewellery made from the milk. I wonder who on earth thought of the idea!

You really cannot start grinding up sailors ! You’ll end up in prison.

EmmaEmEmz · 04/10/2024 17:19

I have a beautiful breastfeeding ring. It's pretty and I love it. Each to their own I suppose

Aix · 04/10/2024 17:19

I have a ring, there was a point in life where I didn't think I'd get to have children, so it's a reminder of more than just breastfeeding.
No-one has a clue what it is unless I tell them anyway, and it's just DP and my parents who know so far. I've had a few comments of "That's lovely, is it an opal?" I just say yes, and that's that.
There are plenty people willing to pay for it. I got mine from a friend with their own company making breastmilk and memorial (ashes) jewellery. It eventually became their full-time job and pays the mortgage and bills, with a healthy amount left over.

😁 Can I grind on them?

SandandSky · 04/10/2024 18:29

I have a breast milk ring which I wear nearly every day. It just looks like a lovely opal and is very special to me.

I don’t go around telling everyone it’s made of breast milk but I do if they ask about the ring and I would say about 90% comment that they love it.

WobblyBoots · 04/10/2024 18:37

Each to their own, if people like them why not?

Personally if I want to remember breastfeeding I just peer down at my wrecked boobs.

Gross. 🤢
Like medieval relics. I’m sorry I know it’s everyone’s choice bla bla bla I think it’s morbid.

I have rings with hair in, you can't see the hair unless you are this close up

I have a breast milk keyring, it is just three hearts (one for each child) set in resin. I have it in a box frame as if it was lost it is irreplaceable.

I don't really wear jewellery, otherwise I may have had something else done.

Eileen101 · 04/10/2024 19:34

If it bothers you, just don't think about it... 🙄
I have some stored in the freezer for having some breastmilk jewellery made. Why not? I loved that time in my life, I breastfed my youngest until 3.
I'd love to have that time memorialised, just need to be able to afford to do so 😂

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/10/2024 00:56

YABU - I’m generally a bit squicked by body fluids but I’ve found the emotional aspect of breastfeeding so amazing (after a very long hard road to get there), that a part of me will really regret when I have to stop it with my toddler. You have now given me an amazing idea… (I had no idea this existed btw and I hate pumping so I probably won’t actually do it, but still I think the idea is lovely).

MartinCrieffsLemon · 05/10/2024 01:54

Why is it worse than the fact we wear animal skins as shoes and hand bags
And shed animal "hair" as jumpers and scarves
And excreted fluids from worms as stockings and blouses?

I have my Nan and Grandad's ashes in a necklace. It keeps them close to me.

SaturdayMorningRun · 05/10/2024 02:27

some people would want to commemorate their BF journey

😬
