To be worried and anxious about breast tissue

Went to breast clinic today due to family history so I'm referred to have annual checks from age of 40yo.
Nurse examined me and said on left breadt there was some inconsistent tissue and took me for a mammogram. She said it might be totally normal for me and mammogram may show its nothing, I'll know in a week.
But um no anxious and worried! My mum had breast cancer at my exact age and I don't think I'm as string as she was as I'm freaking out! I also have no support other than DH and she had both her and my dad's family around at the time!
I even re-looked at my life insurance critical illness clause today because I keep think of my DC!
Someone please pulo me back to sanity!

I felt the same way with a cervical issues so I can’t put your anxiety aside because you probably won’t stop feeling anxious no matter what anyone says but I hope everything is ok when you get the results.
if it helps you to feel a little easier about it, most cases of any type of check of this kind are nothing. My nurse told me 99% of cases she sees are nothing but they have to check anything that isn’t perfect. Hugs to you

I had a series of additional investigations following an “inconsistency” in a mammogram- culminating in a biopsy earlier in the week.
The thoroughness of the breast care team has been reassuring, and the dr who did the biopsy in particular was amazing.

I have results next week.

It is really stressful- the thing I have tried to focus on is that if it is cancerous, then it’s v early stage - cellular level rather than a tumour, because otherwise the initial mammogram would have shown the tumour.

You’ll feel anxious, and that’s ok OP. Take care.

I had my first mammogram through a work scheme a month ago was totally floored when I got a callback to say they found something in my right breast on the mammogram that needed more investigation. A week later I went in for an ultrasound and was told it's dense tissue normal for me and on the next mammogram if it's seen again they have something to compare it too. The doctor I saw said 90 percent of referrals turn out to be fine and if the worse happens nothing good ever came from not knowing. Knowledge means early intervention and treatment and the very best chance of a long lasting cure.

I had to have an ultrasound earlier this year because I found a lump that turned out to be a gland. I saw a GP, breast care nurse, radiologist and consultant who all felt and said my left breast was 'busier' than the right. It was just structural, dense but normal tissue differences. If I hadn't had the ultrasound and results that day I would have been having the exact thoughts you are too, hopefully it's the same situation xxxx

Thanks, everyone! I'll try and keep my mind off it until I hear more X

I was recently referred to the breast clinic as I noticed thicker parts in my left breast. The consultant felt it too but was confident that it was just more dense tissue rather than anything worrying. I had an ultrasound (I am 33 and too young for mammogram) and this confirmed it was just thicker breast tissue. Hope this is just the case for you too.
