Can a urologist help with low sperm count??

Ttc #2 for 3 years now and my DH has shocking motility, morphology and count. We cannot do IVF/ICSI due to medical reasons so only option is bettering sperm naturally somehow, we've already tried supplements and acupuncture. As a last resort we've thought of seeing an urologist, but can they actually do anything? Would be so grateful for any advice!
Aibu - urologisr can't help
Yanbu- yes see an urologist

I think they may be able to help with hormone issues if that is the problem.

I think the biggest factor for improving sperm that you can do without medical input is lifestyle, e.g exercise, healthy diet, no smoking/vaping etc.

Yes - they can check for a varicocele

Has your dh had a prolactin test ?

No he didn't - interesting - do you think a urologist would arrange for that?

Thanks so much for your reply. We're quite healthy, active and no smoking at all, plus all the supplements under the sun....if you have any recommendations for a particular supplement please let me know!

Yes absolutely he would need a full panel of bloods (hormones, Thyroid) an examination, possibly an ultrasound too. The issues you describe can be caused by a varicocele (can be fixed with a minor surgery) or hormone issues which are treated with medication.

Has he been taking supplements ? Once you have ruled out / treated the above it would be a good idea to get him to start :

-vit c
-vit d
-zinc
-selenium
-ubiquinol
-omega supplement

It takes up to 90 days for any supplements to have an effect

good luck 🤞

Yes, they can check that there is nothing wrong with the equipment! Order tests to check for genetic issues.
Find one who specialised in oligospermia.

As a PP poster said, make sure you've tried all of lifestyle things first before you spend all that money.
Losing weight, stop drinking etc. It's pointless spending all that money if your DH is overweight, he'll just be told that first.

Get the book ‘It starts with the egg’ which also covers improving sperm health with specific supplements. Wishing you lots of luck

Thank you all so much for your replies, does anyone know a urologist in the greater Manchester area who would be good for this?

@Namechangeforthis112 Impryl seems to be the preferred supplement.

If you do a search, there are also a few older threads on MN discussing its use.

Wishing you all the best💐
