Out of nowhere my CEO made a joke about a doctor talking to a woman who'd just given birth, punchline was doctor saying "it's a&e down there". Sexist? Inappropriate? funny? Bit weird?

What was your colleagues reaction? I mean, did anyone say anything or was there an awkward silence?

Nervous laughter. He's a strange guy...

@PoshMonkey he looks at me like he hates me sometimes, I've asked for a payrise (probably wont get it but hey). I am popular and get the job done.

Jesus. That’s so much more worrying than his fucking awful ‘joke’. Take care, OP, he sounds appalling.

I'm entirely confused. Without knowing the whole joke, I don't think we can express much of an option. After all, we joke about men's equipment at times.

At work meetings?

Totally inappropriate. I think it's also sexist, but even leaving that aside, it's a disgusting and insensitive joke. Birth injuries are a real problem that many people face, it's completely out of order to joke about it at a meeting. I bet he wouldn't joke about other injuries like that, but it's all hilarity when it's women's bodies.

Startingagainandagain · 02/10/2024 21:14

A work meeting is never the place to make jokes about women's private parts...

Completely inappropriate.

Not out of context, in the office in front of junior colleagues.
