Is it some sort of bite?

I think it’s a gnat bite. They are coming into my house. But I’m worried it could be infected and it’s sooo itchy

I find gnat bites are disproportionately itchy - had some earlier this year on my ankle and it blistered and I couldn’t sleep. Have you taken anti-histamine?

Whoknowswhatanymore · 29/09/2024 21:41

Do you have any hydrocortisone cream in the house? If so, use some of that on it. If not, then savlon or similar and GP tomorrow if no better.

Gymrabbit · 29/09/2024 21:42

It looks like a bite.
keep an eye on the red area. If it increases severely or blisters it could be turning into cellulitis. (I had it earlier this year from
an infected bite and had to go on I’ve antibiotics) x

Insect bite. I react the same way and got savaged last week.

I blast them (carefully) with a hot hairdryer. It stops the itching.

Smidge001 · 29/09/2024 21:50

I'd say try antihistamine and over the counter creams, and if gets worse the next step should be a chemist. Not (what a PP suggested) the GP! No wonder there aren't any appts available if the first suggestion is to go to a GP for an insect bite!

Can you zoom out a bit (covering for modesty, as necessary!)? It’s hard to tell how big it is and that can be important when judging likelihood of infection. Whether you need medical attention or not depends on how far any redness is spreading, really.

Looks like a bite you've scratched . Hydrocortisone and antihistamines and if it gets worse the pharmacist can prescribe antibiotics.
