To be worried about my dh, but he's refusing to go to gp!

Me and DH have a very different approach to health. I have health anxiety so I worry about everything whereas he would never go to the Gp for anything. We tend to be a good mix this way as he calms me down and I make sure he gets help when he needs it.
However we are currently butting heads a little on this. For about the last 6 months he has had really foamy urine, he also sometimes struggled to go (I can hear this when he is in the bathroom). I've asked him to make a Gp appt but he just says it's nothing so he won't go.
Is this me just massively over worrying or should I try and coax him to get an appt?

No, he needs to go. No need to panic but he should see someone.

Bloopy2 · 29/09/2024 20:00

I would get him to go. Foamy urine can mean high levels of protein so could be a kidney issue. Struggling to go could be a number of things but prostate is one that you would want to rule out.

It’s been going on a while. He should get checked. My DH is so similar, he would take so much persuading to go too

Same. My DH had blood in his stools for a year and didn't even mention it to me! (He's fine).

Thanks all, I will talk to him again tomorrow about making an appointment.

A guy I was dating had this and it turned out he had type 1 diabetes.

Is he over 40? If so he qualifies for the NHS health check, they take bloods and it checks for lots of things, full blood count etc. If he has diabetes or any kidney issues this will flag it up.

He doesn’t need to be over 40 to go see the GP about foamy urine.

OP he needs to see a dr.

@cuterugsandhotchoc what age is he?? he most likely has an elarged prostate. this is very common among men as they age. struggling to pass urine is one the first signs. he needs to have his psa checked at the doctors. a blood test.

randomchap · 29/09/2024 23:29

Frothy piss suggests diabetes

It's very much manageable but he needs support from his GP

@cuterugsandhotchoc

Man here NHS 30+ yrs We are awful for getting ourselves sorted. I would not Pusey foot around. Just tell him there will be no bed time activities until he books an appointment! That should do it x

Hi OP, I know this is an old thread but came across this and wondered if you DH went to the doctor in the end? How he is doing well now.
