AIBU for obsessing about marionette lines?

Posting here for traffic as there is such varying opinion on the best course of action I don’t know what to do. 34 and everyone has always said I have a baby face. Until the past few years. I have lost a lot of weight. My cheeks are full but nice cheekbones. My marionette lines however are those of someone who is 54. I am miserable because of them. And I look it. The lines from the edge of my lips drooping down to my chin, I look like an upside down clown. Should I invest in a nuface? Botox or filler? I’d be so grateful for great advice as they are really effecting my confidence. AIBU for OBsessing over this so much?

Really sympathise. Def find a good practitioner (experienced doctor or dentist) and ask their advice. Some Botox and fillers can work magic. Try one first, wait three months, try another. It’s a work in progress, shop around and get different options, research, understand how the face is constructed. Educate yourself a bit so you can understand what the professionals are saying. You don’t have to to stay with the lines of you’re unhappy with them.

I would sort out your confidence. Yes, you don’t have to live with these lines, but if they’re affecting you that much, then there’s a chance that once these are sorted, something else will make you feel just as bad

I have had mine filled twice. I'm 55 I look much better with them done. Last time was maybe 5 years ago and they probably could use doing again soon.unfortunately I have a £3k dental bill needs paying first.

Not marionette lines for me but I'm mid 30s with much more wrinkles around my eyes than most people I know my age (I'm a squinter!) I've gotten a bit of Botox, hasn't completely fixed the issue because of where they are but I feel like I've taken a little control and feel better for it. Def go see a practitioner and see what they advise, I don't see it any differently than dying hair, it doesn't consume me, I'm a confident person, but it's made me feel better, what's the harm in that?

I don’t have these I don’t think, but I do have deep lines from my nose to the edge of my mouth so I guess mine are higher than yours but I feel your pain! I wish there was a way to fill them out without resorting to fillers 🙁. It

I'd love to get rid of mine, but I do feel powerless really. I can't afford treatment and imagine they come back whatever you do. 😩

I though marionette was the nose to mouth lines?

anyway whatever OP I have the same drooping mouth - one side worse than the other. I look like a miserable bitch at all times and I'm only 44. I've had Botox in my 11s and forehead before and have been looking at 'smile lift'

I really don't want fillers though

Oh and well done on the weight loss

MattDamon · 30/09/2024 18:57

When did you lose the weight? You're still very young, it will probably tighten up to some degree. Focus on good skincare for the next year or so.

Nose to mouth are nasolabial folds. Mouth to chin is called marionette because it resembles a marionette doll.
