If you had young children and were thinking of having another? If the job was your dream job, would be great for you career and would be a great step up?

Or would you stay where you are? Somewhere safe and comfortable but not challenging?

New job!

If the job goes would you be disappointed? If so, apply. If you’re offered the job make the decision at that point. Try to find out what the mat leave policy is. I guess the exception is if it’s at a very specific organisation that you might want to apply to later on, as there’s a passibility that rejecting the job might put you at a disadvantage if you applied again.

Of course, I've moved jobs on average every 2 years, it's been important for progression, I did it regardless of my home life situation.

I would apply. A man would not even hesitate applying if he had 2 kids and thinking of having another!

Work From Home GIF by Robert E Blackmon

If your dream job offers remote work options, it can provide the flexibility you need to grow professionally and fulfill family responsibilities. A remote job may allow you to be close to your children and advance your career at the same time, making it a potentially ideal solution.

However, if the new job requires significant time away from home or adds stress that could affect your family life, it may be worth considering the stability and comfort of your current position.

Ultimately, the decision depends on your personal priorities and the specific details of the job offer...👌

If it is a dream job in that it is a specific role in a specific company in a small industry, then do apply. Otherwise, if you could equally do the same role in many other similar organisations, then you can decide to hang back.

I geared up to ft once my youngest was in school but coasted in a pt role prior to that. I preferred to not have to juggle so many balls when dcs were little.

I did not have any problems catching up on my salary or promotions once I threw myself into it again. Plenty of time for that.
