I’ve had an email from an accountant company. I’ve just started a new job. They’ve attached a letter but it won’t let me read it without a password which I don’t have. It says it is a ‘not enrolled letter’ relating to payroll. Does anyone know what this might mean?

I would assume pension.

I would imagine it is to do with enrolling you in the workplace pension.
many workplaces outsource their payroll to an accountants who deal with all paye matters for them.

forgotmypassagain · 26/09/2024 00:55

Email them back?

Oh I see, that would make sense. I haven’t been asked about this actually.

Probably pension.

Often passwords are your NI number and no spaces. Just see if that works.

All employers have to offer an auto-enrolment pension scheme by law but they can defer new employees for 3 months. It’s probably a letter confirming that.

Check with your employer or email the accountant back and ask for the password.

If you earn above a threshold you must be enrolled in a pension scheme. They have to write to you explaining whether or not you have been auto-enrolled, and set out your options.

If it is pensions, and your income is under10kpa(?) it could be asking you if you're wanting to opt in.

Be careful about opening anything and/or giving personal information for something you're not expecting, OP.

message HR/Payroll/whoever onboarded you and ask them what it is.

Please don't do that.
