I’ve been invited for a second interview for a Resident Satisfaction & Engagement role with a housing association. I’ve been told there will be a task before the interview and a scenario-based interview. AIBU to ask for any tips or advice on how to prepare effectively for this? What should I expect?

Chat gpt answer:

  1. Understand the Role

Resident Satisfaction & Engagement roles typically focus on improving tenant experiences and maintaining strong communication with residents. Be ready to discuss how you would engage residents, gather feedback, and handle complaints or disputes.

  1. Scenario-Based Interview

What to expect: You will likely be given a situation common in housing associations, such as a dissatisfied resident or a challenge related to community engagement.

How to prepare: Think through examples of handling resident concerns, communicating effectively, resolving disputes, and fostering a positive living environment. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses.

  1. Task Preparation

You may be asked to prepare a short presentation or complete an exercise that tests your understanding of resident satisfaction or engagement strategies.

What to focus on: Know the housing association’s mission, challenges, and how they engage with residents. Be ready to show how you would improve communication channels, streamline feedback processes, or implement resident satisfaction surveys.

  1. Research

Research the housing association thoroughly. Understand their core values, any recent projects or initiatives related to resident engagement, and tailor your responses to their needs.

  1. Practice Communication Skills

Since the role involves engagement, clear communication is essential. Practice speaking clearly and concisely, especially when explaining how you would handle challenging scenarios.

  1. Competency-Based Questions

You might also be asked questions about your teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. Reflect on past experiences where you successfully engaged with residents or clients.
