Children running around covered in snot, dirt, runny nose all over, wet clothes from water play not changed, in tears and not being given attention. Also, one boy was crying whilst the practitioner was taking photos for tapestry of another child

Yes it would very much concern me

llamali · 25/09/2024 21:09

I wouldn't send my child there because I don't want the staff looking after my kid to be fussing over apps. Some parents however like a photo. So it's up to you.

Kids are snotty. It's a good sign that your child will be regularly exposed to germs and also that they will let your child attend when they in turn are snotty.

The upset children not being attended to would definitely give me cause for concern.

BurbageBrook · 25/09/2024 21:20

Yes that would concern me.

RippedJeansAndCashmere · 25/09/2024 21:22

Yes, all of the above would concern me. I would not send my children there.

Kids should not be left with snotty faces.

batsandeggs · 25/09/2024 21:27

Yes seeing clearly miserable kids that no one is paying attention to would put me off a nursery. Obviously.

Crying kids not being attended to would put me off. Kids a bit dirty from having lots of stimulating fun, not so much. Wet clothes should be changed, or puddle suits worn to protect clothes.

Sugargliderwombat · 25/09/2024 21:38

Yep of course. I hate those bloody apps.

Gut feel matters to me. If it doesn't feel right, then it's not right. We went to see one nursery with DD1 that was great on paper, everything 'outstanding', but I didn't like the vibe at all, it just didn't feel right and I left feeling upset that I might have to put her there as hardly anywhere had spaces. But the minute I stepped foot in the nursery we did choose, I knew it was right for her. I actually had a little cry on the way home as it felt so perfect, and I've never regretted my decision! So if you left feeling uncomfortable, I wouldn't pursue it any further.

When we went to look around nursery 2, we took DD with us and she instantly was welcomed by the ladies and taken to join in with the group reading a story while we were shown around. When we went to collect her it was like she'd always been there, she was helping turn the pages with some other babies and it was such a nice and homely atmosphere and you could tell the kids were happy and had a good relationship with staff.

Yes, particularly the crying children not being attended to. If this is how they behave in front of visitors, how bad is the care they give when there is no one watching?
