I did look for a thread but I couldn't find one. Everyone fucks up occasionally but really?!

OP posts:

One thing the Israelis and Palestinians can agree on is their mutual distaste for sausages.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/09/2024 07:46

With his new £2500 specs you’d have thought he would be able to read the autocue 😃

Violetparis · 25/09/2024 07:54

I am interested in why this has barely been mentioned by mainstream journalists and the news, it's an embassing gaffe. If Corbyn or Boris had made this mistake in a major speech I think more would have been made of it.

LunaNorth · 25/09/2024 02:19

For those of us of a certain age.

hums GH theme tune

Perhaps he has menopause brain? That's what I blame mixing up words on.

I'm also now picturing - although I wish I weren't - Johnson sat in front of a full English (of course), declaring, "Let's get Breakfast done". 🍳🥓🍞☕

SunnieShine · 25/09/2024 08:13

"Maybe he was hungry"?

He's not five years old and that's not good enough.

Josephinesnapoleon · 25/09/2024 08:15

I can’t lie it made me chuckle. I mean how embarrassing in such a major speech on such a serious subject to demand the sausages back.

amusing yes, but just the poster child for how ridiculous this government is.

It’s everywhere. All over main stream media. What ever are you on about.

I haven't seen it on Sky News or BBC or tweeted out by the journalists I follow, I must have missed it.

And I assume you've never made a mistake before in your life.

It's a bit embarrassing for him, and amusing (when taken out of the context of the subject matter), but it's hardly 10pm newsworthy, unless it's been a very slow news day

He'll be needing another bribe donation for a better pair after that gaffe.

UnctuousUnicorns · 25/09/2024 08:23

I just tried searching for it, then realised I'd typed "Karmer Sausages" into the search box. 🤦‍♀️ Menopause brain indeed. I should try to steir karmer in future.

Or should that be karma?

It was definitely on the BBC news at 6 as that is where I heard about it.

I'm in NZ and I've heard about it.

Not much to laugh about on either side. Gaza's finished, Lebanon is next, the hostages are mostly dead and forgotten about by everyone except their families, Netanyahu doesn't give a sht about getting them back. Awful situation for all. Part.of me thinks this is some kind of unfortunate Freudian slip. They've probably been burnt to a crisp by the airstrikes

Violetparis · 25/09/2024 08:36

It's been mentioned on Sky News now so hold my hand up to say I was wrong in my earlier post.

Sossijiz · 25/09/2024 08:40

I like his priorities.

kookoocachoo · 25/09/2024 08:42

Is this his real thoughts …. The hostages not even people?
it’s not a mispronunciation… words not similar

He neeeds to show world he is not racist moron

Bgfe · 25/09/2024 08:45

Everyone makes mistakes. He isn’t a great orator though. His attempts to rally the crowd don’t sound authentic. A more charismatic person would at least briefly acknowledge the humour of the gaffe.

veritasverity · 25/09/2024 09:18

Benefit of the doubt on this one, he was probably thinking 'poor little sausages'.
After all it is a term of endearmentSmile.

stormy4319trevor · 25/09/2024 09:19

A statesman and orator he is not. Can't imagine how he managed a lawyerly career, as I thought you had to be a smooth and eloquent communicator in that profession. Somehow his public speaking leaves much to be desired. It's a very hurtful mistake to have made and I think he should apologise.

Then you need to contact the news channels. As they seem to think differently.

and on such a serious topic, at such a major event, yes our prime minister standing up and declaring we need to get the sausages back is a major gaffe. As it would be if any president or prime minister did it anywhere in the world.

Iloveautumnwinterchristmas · 25/09/2024 11:12

I'm a doctor and I want my sausages😂

Chersfrozenface · 25/09/2024 11:14

OonaStubbs · 25/09/2024 07:43

One thing the Israelis and Palestinians can agree on is their mutual distaste for sausages.

They'd be OK with chicken or beef sausages.

Anyway, back on topic, what modern, media-trained politician can't read an autocue? It's in the top three of absolutely necessary skills.

ILikeItWhatIsIt · 25/09/2024 11:57

Honestly, I piss myself laughing every time I think about it. I wouldn't have been able to hold it together if I'd been him, but then I'm immature
