Showers - what type of person are you?

This is lighthearted btw.

Dh won't do anything until he's had a shower in the morning. Not even have breakfast, take a bin bag out, put a wash load on. Absolutely nothing at all. It's not a problem, but sometimes I might ask him to do something small in the house and he says he can't because he hasn't had a shower.

Like I say it isn't a problem, but let's say we unexpectedly run out of milk, he wouldn't throw some clothes on and nip to the corner shop, even though it's a 30 second walk.

I otoh do have a shower every day, but if I'm not going out anywhere I might potter about for a bit first. I might do a workout or some cleaning first or make breakfast. I'd even drop one of the dc off if they were going out early morning then have a shower afterwards.

Dh tends to use the bathroom before anything else, from bed to loo to shower. Monday mornings though he will take the bins out first and weekends will sometimes go downstairs to make tea and watch telly first.
I prefer a shower in the morning too to wake me up but it’s not a non negotiable, if I’m wfh I can do some household chores while ds is getting sorted for school and then shower before I log on. Or I’ll wait it out until I’ve exercised.
I’m not that bothered but I do shower daily and often have a long bath in the evening for relaxation.

I have to shower as soon as I get up because my short hair sticks out all over the place and I can’t see as I won’t put in my contacts until I’ve showered. So I am the same as him.

NancyJoan · 23/09/2024 21:01

I don’t ever leave the house without a shower or bath, even if I’m going to an exercise class first thing, but I will potter for an hour or two, eat breakfast, put a wash on etc in my pyjamas before hand.

Weekdays I get up, feed the cat, shower, dress, grab bag, breakfast in the car.

Weekends I am the opposite of your husband. Depending on social plans, on a Saturday I get up, watch a bit of tv with breakfast, then do a load of household jobs/chores and THEN shower, so I feel nice and fresh before going out. I don’t want to do jobs and get all dirty and sweaty after my shower. Then Sunday usually have a relaxed breakfast, no rushing, then shower and get dressed for the day.

I don't want to even go downstairs until I've been to the loo, cleaned my teeth and showered. I'm with him. Id not dream of going to the shops etc

I have a new job this year with an earlier start & I have discovered the joy of showering at night just before bed.

I LOVE it - work is done, dinner is done, housework is done & I have a lovely hot shower with all my nice products

I wash my hair every second night & I have time to let it dry naturally. I can use body lotion & I'm relaxed & not rushing. I do my face skincare & use some perfume & it feels great hopping into bed with my books.

I'm a total convert as it gives much longer in bed in the mornings & far less rushing

This is me and always has been, pure bliss! I can’t imagine not showering before bed. My partner is the opposite, a morning showerer 🤷‍♀️! I’ll have the odd morning one as well if it’s certain times of the month if I sweat in bed. Will still do my night time one as well regardless.

Why would you shower then do the bins? That makes no sense. If I'm doing household chores I'll do them first then shower. I tend to shower and put on clean clothes just before I leave the house.

Yeah this! I do any "dirty" jobs before I shower

WhiskerPatrol · 23/09/2024 21:30

I don't have to shower as soon as I get up, but I can't get dressed or leave the house without having showered - not even to pop to the corner shop.

Bagpuss2022 · 23/09/2024 21:40

I can go days without a shower but that’s more MH related. I don’t leave the house much used to be shower after a cuppa and a hot bath before bed.
DH is like yours he showers before anything and also showers when he gets home from work it’s just what he likes.

A@unsync wait, shower before and after workout??? Right I take it back, that’s thrown me! 😂

Really @DillyDallySal? You can't think of a situation where a woman needs to shower every morning? Have you not heard of hot flushes and night sweats?

DillyDallySal · 24/09/2024 17:27

@unsync yes I’ve woken up very sweaty n many an occasion. It just wouldn’t occur to me to shower, workout, shower again. I would just start a workout sweaty and then shower after?! Although I’m not criticising the multiple showers a day per se.. I actually wash twice a day too.
