to think DH's idea of tigdying up is in this case way short of the mark!!

DD is getting new bed on Thursday - big girl bed so her room had to be tidied, big time as it was a tip and furniture rearranged to accomodate it.

DH says - 'since you acknowledge I am better and quicker at tidying you watch the DC's and I will do DD'd room'. I agree because where as I like cleaning he is quicker at tidying - or so I thought.

My instructions to him were: All little Happy Meal/party bag toys/loose beads to be binned, all non-Disney or non-sentimental soft toys (the ones she has had in her wardrobe for over a year) in to the loft, 2 out of 3 of her dolls beds into the loft. And Little People and rocking horse in to her brothers room.

However, apparently when faced with a 4 year old DD bedroom, sparkly jewellery, fairys and barbies and tiny little Fifi accessories etc etc he is not as capable any more!!

He comes down after 2 hours and says he as given up!

I go up to see all furniture moved, but he has literally just cleared surfaces in to boxes to make them moveable, and what seems like a million teeny tiny beads, pets, shoes, wings and wands are all just mixed up and/or lost. The stuff bagged up for the loft has all her knew toys in and all her old, unplayed with toys are still all over the room. Even odd socks have been left strewn around.

So is it me, or was I justified in a major rant?

Be grateful he even tried..

windygalestoday · 21/04/2008 11:17

yes im with the grateful theory too lol

Lowfat · 21/04/2008 11:20

If he was the kind of man who was nagged into doing and never did a thing yes I would be grateful. But he chose that job because he smugly said he could do it better.

Grateful has nothing to do with it. We are equal in our house, we both work hard and both look after the children while the other is working, everything is equal. I would have done the room if he watched the DC's - but it was his choice.

Do it right or dont do it at all!!!

Sounds as though I would have emerged shaking my head, not knowing what the hell to do with all that plastic glittery tat that lives in small girls bedrooms (can you tell I'm struggling with this now and she's only 3?!)

The rule in my house is if it's small enough to go up the hoover pipe it shouldn't be on the floor.

This not only applies to toys but also DH's cufflinks which he often discards on the bedroom floor when he gets changed after work.

Why was it so bitty in the first place?
