I have too many clothes …ridiculous amounts. I’m too big for 80% (yes I know)

I’m going through them and I have a pile to donate/sell and then I worry I’ll regret it.

Pass them on, charity shop , women's refuge? Let them do someone else some good.
Buy yourself what you need.
If you're happy at this weight spend a bit more, if not, get basics and make a plan of change.
The clothes where they are now are not helping you x

Thank you, that’s the encouragement I really need.

I cleared out my whole wardrobe once. I gave it all to a charity who came and collected it all.

Did you feel better? Not just because of the good deed - but getting rid of things?

Yes and I didn't miss any of it. Haven't thought about it since.

Stainglasses · 21/09/2024 16:15

You could put them all up on Vinted for low prices and then spend the income on new stuff that fits you.

Thistooshallpass24 · 21/09/2024 16:15

If you can afford to not have to sell on, do it! It saves such a faff the less faffing through more likely to get rid of things x

JMSA · 21/09/2024 16:15

Honestly, it's so cathartic.
Go for it! Smile

I have too much stuff and have to keep different seasons in the loft. I got autumn out last week and it was just like I had been on a massive shop as I forgot about stuff. All I needed was knee boots this season. Deffo sell what you don't need.

Greytulips · 21/09/2024 16:22

A lot of things date quickly and you won’t wear them again anyway!

Get rid and make you life and organization lighter.

Thistooshallpass24 · 21/09/2024 16:22

I once donated over 300 handbags, good quality 1930's onwards ,bags stuffed to keep shape and kept in dust bags where possible.
Felt sick for about ten minutes then felt great about it

arrangetheroses · 21/09/2024 16:25

I have so many skinny jeans with tags on and I think will they ever be fashionable to wear again?

I know fashion doesn’t matter but it’s quite aging to wear styles that have noticeable gone.

I generally don't keep any clothes that are too small for me. I figure if/when I lose weight, I'll deserve to treat myself to new clothes! I also don't keep things that have tags on still. I was quite brutal recently and got rid of about 8 bin bags of stuff to charity and felt much better for it. I only have clothes that make me feel good about myself now.

How did you acquire 300 handbags? (Speaking as not a handbag person. I have two. The first I bought myself as a degree celebration 50 years ago. I’m therefore mind boggled).

Thistooshallpass24 · 21/09/2024 20:05

@MereDintofPandiculation I've got a handbag room, I've collected vintage bags since a teenager. I donated the ones I hadn't used that year ( and we moved so less to pack!) I've still got "several" I like jewellery too I've had four different engagement rings ( from the same person!)
