To be worried my kid is not even close to walking?

My DS still can't walk and I am starting to get worried. The "well-meaning" relatives have been making comments since he turned one but I have been ignoring them. Every child is different! But I am currently on holiday with the grandparents and they keep saying we are not doing things right, we should be pushing him to walk more, his legs have issues and we haven't gone to the GP, we should get him checked out.

He does walk weirdly (he is out-toeing and one leg does it way more than the other). He really tries to walk, pulls himself up from furniture, goes from one place to the other as long as he can grab onto something. Loves his walker (one of the ones he has to push to walk). But no independent walking yet. We try to get him to hold our hand to walk but he just can't. He is too unstable, he gets tired and stops. He gets so frustrated that he can't do it! He is 18 months old-AIBU to start worrying? And what can I do to help?

Edit go say he is not really talking yet either. Very communicative and expressive but only 1-2 words really

Happened with my youngest - they didn’t walk until 23 months! Concentrated on language and dexterity - was an expert at building towers and threading beads on a lace but couldn’t walk! Went to the docs at 18m on recommendation of health visitor but no physical problems, just didn’t have much interest in walking. Now a healthy teenager who walks to school and back every day.

I really don’t think you need to worry until he’s two. Some just aren’t as motivated to walk as others. It really doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong.

My DD's paediatrician told me they'll only start to get worried if a child hasn't take a step once they reach 18 months. My youngest walked just days before 18 months.

It's worth going to the GP though op to perhaps rule out hip problems etc which can cause uneven legs.

My HV said at 18 months to start investigating with the GP, not because there is necessarily a problem but because if there is a problem it's good to get ahead of it earlier rather than later. So i'd say you should be proactive here but try not to panic.

DD walked at 20 months, nothing up though it worried me at the time, she just wasn’t interested in walking. Still isn’t at 18!
