Off sick right before holiday, WIBU?

I came down with what I assume was either a stomach bug or food poisoning last night. I was up being violently ill all night and still felt like death this morning so did not go into work today.

I still feel rough. I'm no longer running back and forth to the bathroom and have managed to keep some toast down this afternoon, I just feel wiped out. I'm pretty sure I will be able to drag myself into work tomorrow. BUT we go away on Friday. DH booked us a special mini-break for our anniversary, it's been planned for months.

DH thinks I should take tomorrow off to rest and recover fully so I can enjoy our long weekend away. I think that being off sick and then going on holiday the next day looks bad and that if I can go into to work tomorrow I should, even if I'm not feeling 100% because that's what I would usually do.

WIBU?

Not sure if this is relevant but I'm not taking any annual leave, Friday is my day off anyway.

YANBU- I'm right, I should go into work tomorrow as I'm physically able to do so and it would be bad form to go away straight after being off sick.

YABU- DH is right, I should take another day to rest and recover fully so I'm feeling better for our trip.

Well we are several days later so OP will be on holiday now, not sure why we are still begging them not to go in to work last week. My workplace would expect me in as soon as I could work, regardless of NHS advice. My kids high school expect them back the minute they stop vomiting, I've only known of a rule in primary school to wait 24-48 hours. Shouting don't be so selfish is all well and good if you have a job that will pay you to be off and not sack you over poor attendance but not everyone has that luxury.

Can you not just ring your manager and discuss? It’s irrelevant that you may be going away at the weekend as far as they’re concerned so that’s not the issue. Just ask whether they would prefer you to remain off all week or whether they’d like you back in the office tomorrow/thurs if you feel better.

It’s as likely to have been something you ate/bacterial as it was a lingering viral thing so you may be completely fine tomorrow.

Stay off. You're not telling any lies, you're ill.

Please don’t go. I have bile acid malabsorption and a 24hour bug for someone else would last 2 weeks plus for me. Think of others who may have issues you’re not aware of.
