To ask which professions you would avoid

Just that really, my ex worked long hours and left the house at 7 and got in at 8pm, sometimes later. I was so lonely and sometimes he would more often than not go out after work. Are there any professions you would avoid?

I think what I am really asking is what professions would you avoid when starting a relationship? Due to them to not being at home enough. I always wondered if I was unreasonable for feeling lonely as I knew he had to work, but that many hours? Really?

My friend DH works in recruitment always from home and is on £80k a year. He starts work at 9 and finishes at 5. Unless some porkies are being told 🤣

Don't marry a farmer 😂 life is nothing but work, absolutely no time off, and there's not much (hardly any!) money in it - plus they're usually inseparable from their family.... DH is from a farming family, although has a different profession so fortunately isn't that involved. His cousins' wives have a very hard time.

@Ifonlyiwasbeyonce Recruitment can be all sorts of things. Depends what the job is - managing various offices? Setting up executive recruitment events with an employer? Sitting in an office all day it probably isn’t.

When people say lawyer, it depends what type of lawyer! City lawyers work long hours but make £££££. Local solicitors popping into the police station to see clients - far less. Criminal baby barrister - you pay them as costs outweigh fees.

I would say the people I worked with who had controlled hours worked in local government. Time off in lieu was always taken. Lots of holiday and generous pensions. Not self employed and the work flows in. There are some stresses of course but it’s decent enough pay if you get higher up through the system.
