A friend's niece with the surname Taylor is having a daughter and considering the name Elizabeth. I mumbled about how it's a lovely name and were they a fan? Silence. Explained more about Elizabeth Taylor and met with blanks. They didn't know what I was on about.

I'm now clearly old.

When you feel like a valuable resource, because you’ve been there, done that, lost the t shirt. AMA, as a way of life.

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 16/09/2024 14:13

I overheard a boy around 9 saying "Dad, what's a voicemail?"

Netcam · 16/09/2024 14:13

When my happy Saturday this weekend was having breakfast in bed, going for a walk in the sun with DH and coming back to a cup of tea and a game of scrabble. We're 54.

Justleaveitblankthen · 16/09/2024 14:14

When not only do you look forward to Antiques Roadshow, you often make sure you have your Pyjama's on to be ' all ready for bed' 🤭

You also look forward to Winterwatch when the nights start drawing in..

Purchased a pair of designer varifocal sunglasses this year so I can read on holiday or be able to recognise my own kids in the pool

Ti7ch · 16/09/2024 14:19

You don't recognise any of the music acts in the charts

BeachRide · 16/09/2024 14:20

You injure yourself sleeping.

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 16/09/2024 14:20

Probably not what you mean, but I've recently described myself as old because all I can think about is getting the washing outside when it's nice weather 🤣.

Wellingtonwombles · 16/09/2024 14:23

Oh and last week I said to two younger colleagues I am setting up a project with that I would ask Comms to do a qr code for the poster for the event. They both looked at me and then 2 mins later they had done it and put it in the teams chat!! They've now taught me but now I know how my nan feels when I have to show her how to use Amazon 😳

Someone recently called me "madam" in a shop. I'm 31.

😂😂😂

Hihihello193 · 16/09/2024 14:26

One day it just dawned on me that the old man from Jaws is actually very handsome. 😳I think that's when I knew.

whoamI00 · 16/09/2024 14:32

When I find that the clothes, makeup, and style I used to like don't suit me anymore.

When I look at selfies I took a long time ago.

mumda · 16/09/2024 14:35

I know two little girls called Elsie. My gran was Elsie.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 16/09/2024 14:35

When people say “Bless you” — and you haven’t sneezed!

user7853156780 · 16/09/2024 14:38

The very earliest sign is when the post stops being a chance of something fun - invitations, birthday cards with a tenner, that kind of thing.
Now when i see the postman (less often than it used to be ) its more a case of “what fresh hell arriving now”

gardenmusic · 16/09/2024 14:50

When you have to think about how to stand up.
When you hear a grown up give their date of birth as 2001.
When you prefer lunch out to a 3 course dinner.

Starlight1979 · 16/09/2024 14:57

When I meet up with friends and we end up talking about houseplants / new washing machines / the weather....

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/09/2024 14:57

I've got O levels and my university education was all paid for - fees, maintenance, extra for field trips; I also got housing benefit and unemployment money during holidays in my first year.

Echobelly · 16/09/2024 14:58

I'm 46 and last week was wondering where my glasses were and then realised they were on my head 😆

survivingmotherhoood · 16/09/2024 15:02

I asked for a Dyson hoover for my birthday one year and chickens for this one. I'm 29.

Lakeyloo · 16/09/2024 15:02

Being excited about drying the washing on the line and getting into bed with clean, line dried sheets.
Being more excited about buying something practical over a new bag or shoes.
Loving not having plans at the weekend so i can *potter in the garden or read a book.
*Using words like potter.
Taking comfort into consideration as much as style when buying new clothes/shoes etc
Taking my camping chair and a good selection of pain killers / first aid bits to festivals

Scrolling down a very long way to find my year of birth, and receiving junk mail about Saga/ funeral plans/retirement flats/electric armchairs.
Not being able to get off the floor without making a noise.

The realisation that the 80's started 44 years ago 😳

I bought Definitely Maybe by Oasis when it came out in 1994 and it still sounds modern to me.

30 years before its release, the likes of 'Do Wah Diddy' by Manfred Mann and 'I Get Around' by the Beach Boys were in the charts, which was certifiable old-people music in 1994.

It's now 30 years since Definitely Maybe came out 👵

Definitely maybe will never age it's such a great album. I'm 43 and my daughter is nearly 15 and it's her favourite album whether she likes it or not lol. I think I will feel old after going to see them next year and I'm already researching ways to make standing for that length of time easier haha my poor feet

bifurCAT · 16/09/2024 15:16

How getting up requires sound

Hedgesgalore · 16/09/2024 15:20

Dyson have discontinued parts for my particular hoover 🙈

MidnightPatrol · 16/09/2024 15:23

Some lovely bits in M&S at the moment
