How to report a DR/nurse ? (for good)

Hi

im in England (in case relevant)

Does anyone know is it possible to report a doctor/nurse for something positive? Obviously I know there’s the option to send a thank you card and gift (which I have done) but is there anyone I could report to above them? Just want them to get the credit their due. I know for complaints there’s pals etc but never heard of anything for if it’s compliments rather than complaints.

basically the scenario was a few weeks ago I was very unwell and deteriorated whilst in the gp practice. They fitted me in for an immediate same day appointment after I called (even though they were full) because I felt unwell and then because I deteriorated they had to call an ambulance and I was blue lighted in. I know that’s their job but they really went above and beyond and were so unbelievably kind to me as I was feeling extremely unwell and was frightened and they didn’t leave my side, which I’m sure must have thrown off their diary for the rest of the day.

people are so quick to complain but I just wanted them to get recognised for how much they helped me. Does anyone know of any way to do this?

thanks 🙂

Maybe get in touch with the practice manager? You'll either be able to feedback directly to them or they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm glad you had a positive experience and hope you're feeling better now!

I’ve had a few letters sent to me and cc’d to the director of the unit I work in or to the hospital CEO. Also some just sent directly to me, and a couple where they wrote to the local paper!

I treasure all of them. There’s one in particular that I look at when I’ve had a really rough day/night.

Bless you, this stuff is really appreciated.

Do you know their name?
If so you could send a personal letter of thanks I think that would mean a lot ( I used to be a nurse) you could also write to the practice manager and tell them what you ha e written here it's,always nice to be told you are doing a good job.

In your scenario- Practice manager.
Positive comments are really appreciated - usually its only complaints and kickoffs ( usually about stuff we have no control over)

Practise manager but tbh they (just) did their job.

Write to the practice, give them your name and the date you were seen. Take the letter in with a box of chocolates.

This is why surgeries often run late, why don't people understand that?

We sent the GP practice a thank you card after my mother died. Thanking everyone for their support and help and naming a couple of special people.

to a point yes, but they definitely went above and beyond. They didn’t even have to fit me in in the first place as they were already completely full!

thanks everyone for the suggestions 🙂

Practice manager, you can also send compliments via pals.

registered nurses have to provide feedback to re validate with the NMC so a card or letter to the nurse would be lovely.

im glad you had a good experience and hope you are well now.

Yeah but everyone gets a morale boost from a thank you note, and both the thanker and the thanked benefit from that, so why not?
We are not just robots 'doing a job.'
We are always very quick to complain, I think a culture where we were more appreciative of each other would be healthy.

Yes but its always nice to be iold you are doing a good job ,when I was a nurse patients and relatives complain all the time when people say thank you it's lovely especially if they thank you personally.
