PayPal fees holiday

Hi everyone ,
I've turned 50 this year and treated myself to a break away on a Yoga retreat weekend in Sardinia . Paid £1200 for a 4 night stay all inclusive, via PayPal .. paid in full over 3 months ago . Holiday is next weekend .
So yesterday I get a what's app message from the lady running the retreat , telling me she has had 60 Euro to PayPal for cross border fees . She then asked me to pay for half the fee..
AIBU to think this is unfair and say no I'm not prepared to pay any fees . Thoughts please ...

I think that offering to go halves is reasonable, assuming the woman organising the retreat wasn't aware of the Paypal charge. Hopefully another time she will factor that in to the cost of the retreat. Annoying for you though to have to fund this extra charge at short notice. I hope you have a brilliant time.

Have a look at PayPal's terms & conditions. It could be that she's not supposed to pass these fees on.

She should have been aware that she may pay extra fees if she's accepting payments from another currency than her own.

And then if she wants to claw that back from those customers, she needs to make that clear in advance, before you buy from her!

No - you have paid in full for your holiday

Sorry for my previous post OP. I've just looked it up and Paypal say a seller can't ask the buyer to cover the cross border fee. You are right; don't pay it.

The seller offered the functionality of PayPal when offering her service, it's their fault they didn't look to what fees that incurred and price accordingly.

You can't change the pricing after the fact and expect more money.

Thanks everyone for your feedback , just catching up on way home . I'm not going to pay this extra charge ! I just hope it won't affect my long awaited holiday !!
