Duplo!

TeaButInAPot · 16/09/2024 06:49

Magnatiles - without a doubt the most played with thing in my house, by kids of all ages. They'll last for years.

Thank you @Shoesshoes87 and @TeaButInAPot !

What is he into? You could get some wooden train tracks with a few trains.
Wooden farm/ plastic farm set up.
Playdoh with accessories.

Sinkingfeeling952 · 16/09/2024 06:53

Duplo, Brio (or ikea version), playdoh, sticker books, cars / vehicles, toy food, books (Julia Donaldson etc?), jigsaws or Orchard Toy games?

Depending on budget, would say my son world have been as happy with a new sticker book as something more expensive.

Pottedpalm · 16/09/2024 06:54

A balance bike
A wooden truck to pull toys/stuff around the garden
A swing

Merrow · 16/09/2024 06:56

Agree with magna tiles! DS1 didn't really like Duplo but loved Playmobil 123. Obsessed with the wooden train track. Do you have a garden? We have a sand and water picnic table that he got at 2 and is still going strong now he's almost 6.

A tool belt with tools in it

MadamTeapot · 16/09/2024 07:00

An ikea toy kitchen. My son adored a wooden people pop up toy at that age, I know Mulberry Bush do it. They do a lot of things my toddlers loved. Sticklebricks. Play dough very definitely.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 16/09/2024 07:01

Doctor’s kit

any kind of dress up

DeCaray · 16/09/2024 07:07

When mine were that age they loved bath toys

Big box filled with blown up balloons. Even better if you get the light up ones.

Bath toys.

Ball pit.

Cuwins · 16/09/2024 07:22

DD now 2.5 loved a tea set last Christmas and also playmobil 123 park.
Now she has a toy kitchen she loves. Also colouring things, stickers, water tray, orchard toys games, doll and buggy.

Cuwins · 16/09/2024 07:23

Bath toys and books always popular too.

Username9898 · 16/09/2024 07:27

Ikea play kitchen, duplo and magnet tiles were the biggest hits when my DS was 2. Still get played with now at nearly 6 (well the duplo has turned into Lego but 🤷‍♀️).

Cuwins · 16/09/2024 07:40

I'm getting magnatiles for DD this Christmas and hoping she will like them

Keepingcosy · 16/09/2024 07:40

I'm just getting mine a Hey Duggee t shirt. He'll have other presents from family too. You don't need to go crazy at this age as they don't really get the whole birthday thing until they are I'd say more like 4.

I don't know about that. My 2.5 year old is obsessed with birthdays or 'happy's'. She is already looking forward to having cake and candles, presents to unwrap and balloons for hers!

OP didn't mention wanting to spend a fortune, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to take the opportunity to give your child a few lovely new things. Also, not everyone has extended family or friends who'll be buying them gifts.
