I've got less then half an hour on train to city.

How do I soften backs of these bliddy rock hard shoes.

Heel already bleeding.

When you arrive go to the nearest Boots and buy some Compeed.

longapple · 14/09/2024 17:45

Plasters on your heel if you have any, if not loo roll and double over your sock to pad it. Work out if it's rubbing from being too tight or not tight enough allowing movement, and get compeed on it asap as pp said

Crippled

Feet bleeding four places.

Compeed not making difference to pain

Are you wearing socks?

oObyeOo · 14/09/2024 18:28

Just go buy another pair of shoes

GRex · 14/09/2024 18:28

2-step procedure:

  1. Buy flip-flips
  2. Wear flip-flops instead.
Noseyoldcow · 14/09/2024 18:30

When we were kids, and complained of a hard heel part to the shoe, my mum used to roll it forward and bash it with a rolling pin to soften it . I don't suppose you have a rolling pin to hand, but you could roll the heel part forward and stand on it.

longapple · 14/09/2024 18:55

The compeed will be stopping more damage, unfortunately the way they do that is by swelling and making their own blister which will put pressure on the injured bits and does hurt. Experiment with having the shoes looser or tighter and buy some flip flops if you can.

Thing is wore them without socks/tights and were fine.

Now have them on with tights - agony.

Have a very long walk from the train station later.

I've been trying to surreptitiously soften the back all evening.

Paid a fortune for these rotten shoes.

Water. Honestly, run the backs under warm (or even hot would be better but whatever you dare) water until at least some of it has been absorbed by the (presumably?) leather. Then put them on. It should help to stretch them a bit as they dry. I've done that with leather sandals before and it worked a treat.

Failing that, remove tights as you said they were fine without them

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 15/09/2024 08:08

Shoes went in the wheelie bin.

Ended up taking tights off - agony.

My feet had swelled up like balloons!

Got a couple of taxis last night to cut out the walking.

I'm in a bit of a state now - feet look like stabbed puffy puddings.

And I'm out all day. Confused

If your feet are already knackered you need backless shoes until they heal. Then you need to use your hairdryer on the back of the shoe and heat it, then manipulate it, then heat it, manipulate it until the begin to give.

You threw them away?! Couldn't you have given them to charity or someone else after a wipe down?

Hope your feet are better soon.

GRex · 15/09/2024 08:40

I second the backless shoes. You can get some decent all-black ones for work to wear with tights.

isthismylifenow · 15/09/2024 08:44

You threw them away ? As in really or just saying that for emphasis.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 15/09/2024 11:03

@Azertyuio123

I wouldn't buy blood stained shoes.
