I've emptied my 'one day' bags/suitcase because now everything fits. I've gone from a 26 to a 14 for trousers, 12 for tops/sweatshirts etc. However, I have one pair of size 14s, same brand as others, that will not yet fasten! It's very annoying, they're woolen, perfect given I feel the cold and my room at work is always very cool. It's so frustrating!

To be fair, they are 'vintage', 20 years old, but everything else in that size of that era fits. I measured them and they're more like a modern day 12. I remember a poster who worked in clothes manufacturing writing a very good post about changing sizes, but they're smaller than similar age trousers of the same size. Oh well, something to aim for!

I was told that you can try on 5 identical items in the same size and they can all fit differently because they were sewn together by different people. One person might sew the seam allowance exactly, one is a bit inside, one a bit outside etc. Stands to reason when things are made by humans (often at greaf speed).

I have stopped going by size and just buy wbat fits. I have size 12s to size 18s and they all fit. Size means nothing

It's different by region, brand, era, style, everything.

You just have to try everything on.

I’m a Vinted addict, so can’t try on! Well, I do, then immediately put it back up for sale.

My cousin told me every woman has this range of sizes in her wardrobe. I have old size 18s and 16, but they’re far too big. All the 14s fit bar one. So odd.

I don't. Tens or twelves and that's it. I get rid of anything that hasn't fitted for more than a couple of years. It's 90 pc secondhand to start with. So no worries.

See, this is what I’d consider the way of it. I have 12s and 14s with a few bits bigger that I can’t wear/are sentimental. I’ll have to eventually ditch the big sizes, it’s pointless having space taken up.

I have a coat from Mark's size 16 bought mid nineties and still fits me but a size 16 today in Mark's definitely wouldn't fit as I am now a size 20. Sizing definitely has changed.

Exactly. Who has that much storage space?
