Is it unreasonable to have more than one overseas holiday a year in the current situation?

Recently retired, and one of the things I had been looking forward to is travelling. But a certain source (family, not going into it further, sorry) has hinted that more than one holiday abroad a year is 'just greedy' and everyone should take more breaks in the UK to help our economy, eco reasons etc.
I'm sorry but I want to go abroad. Just to Europe mainly, no long haul at all, nothing extravagant, self catering apartment/ultra-cheapo hotel. I just want to see beautiful buildings and historical places.
I love visiting in this country too, have been to nearly every county and all countries except N.Ireland. We had to holiday at home/on the cheap when kids were small, now we have some spare money due to bye-bye mortgage.
This person has had multiple trips to the US, Cyprus villas, lots of luxury but have got a bit born again about travel.
What to say? Yes, I expect to be hauled over the coals here for flying, but we hardly flew for 20 years.
Easy to say MYOB but family dynamics not so simple.
YABU - don't go too often
YANBU - travel

The way I see it if you wanted to travel first class and stay in 5* hotels 10 times a year that nobody else's business but yours. I've never even left the country at 38yo and if I was able to I wouldn't let anyone tell me how many times I could go

Ideally to protect the planet you should only fly once every couple of years, but for Europe it's so easy to train or drive

When huge corporations, regular private jet users, business people and governments in huge countries take the climate seriously then i’ll consider my travel but my 1 or 2 mainly euro holidays a year are a tiny dot compared to them.

I recycle, use public transport loads, meat free days and no kids so i do my bit!

Go travel, jeez you finally have the time to do it so go do it. If this person has turned evangelical after they went everywhere they wanted to then they can just get in the bin.

You’re absolutely not being unreasonable. Go and enjoy yourselves after bringing up a family. My DH (67) and me (64) had four holidays in Europe in 2019, pre-pandemic, like you in low cost self catering accommodation. We loved exploring interesting historical and geographical places, unencumbered our three now adult DC. Lo and behold my DH was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2021, completely buggared up our retirement plans. I'm now his full time carer. Go for it!!
