Posting here for traffic

need opinions (preferably by anyone who's been to the lyric theatre London)

im booming tickets as a suprise and cannot decide what seats to book! My friend who I'm taking is also 6ft5 which adds to the indecision.

I've attached a screenshot of the available seats - the yellow, brown and dark blue and green seats are in my price range.

do I go for the yellow seats front row on the balcony?
or dark blue seats front row off to the side on the grand circle?
brown seats back of the stalls?

help please!

Use Theatre Monkey website.

For a 6ft 5 person I would book an aisle or end of row seat, so they have a bit more legroom. Not front row of balcony - they will be too jammed in. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter which bit of the theatre (altho I always prefer Dress Circle).
If this is "Hadestown", it's quite small, and all seats will be fine.

Based on the image, blue tickets, at the end of the row - there's space in front for legs.

It is for Hadestown!

Don't book the balcony. With two circles below you'll be up in the gods unable to see the back of the stage.

End of aisle brown or green on the grand circle looks the best for your budget. You can Google "view from my seat" and the theatre name and you should be able to check what the view will be like.

This is the sort of detail you can get:

Theatre monkey for Upper circle:
Confined in all seats, worst in row A. Only A 3, 4, 44 and 45 have slightly more.

A little more space is offered in row B seat 11 and row C seat 10 which have the seat in front slightly offset, leaving a small gap.

For Balcony:
Row A is the worst, B and C not much better - up to around 5ft 4.
D perhaps to 5ft 6.
Side block E has space for feet under the rail in front. Centre block is meaner, issues for those over 5ft 5 again.
Central F to 5ft 6. Side block F has a little more, and seats 6 and 21 have nothing in front.
Central G is more generous up to 5ft 8 or so, and H adds another inch. J less so - 5ft 6 again.
Side block G is a little tight, but H is OK to 5ft 8, seats 6 and 21 have nothing in front.
Side block J is raised further and has legroom to 5ft 9 or so.

Thank you I didn't even know that existed! I'd looked at the view from my seats website but didn't realise there was one that said about legroom!

I'd go dark green or possibly yellow( check the detail of restricted view) in grand circle. Aisle seat for legroom, but you may need to look for a row with 4 minimum left as most theatres won't let you leave an odd seat.

dizzydizzydizzy · 07/09/2024 18:48

Oh that's difficult. A 6'5" person will need a leg room seat and nobody sitting behind them because anyone sitting behind won't be able to see.

Was going to say this! I'm 5'3. If he's 6'3 he should sit at the back lol!

Seriously though, note that short people often try to sit in the aisle seat so that if someone tall does sit in front of them they can see round, albeit uncomfortably. So unless there are other options, leave those seats to the shorties 🙏😀
