I had to have repeat bloods done a few days as my Vit D and folate levels were deficient (GP marked them as normal, even though the comment from the lab confirmed deficiency)
The results were available on the NHS app yesterday and all marked as normal by the same GP. However when I clicked into the result to see the figure, my B12 result had a comment from the lab 'is the patient receiving injections as b12 is elevated' My figure is 1200. The normal range is up to about 890. I actually had a b12 deficiency about 3 years ago, and even with the loading dose of injections it never went above 400. My surgery stopped these as it seemed to stabilise. I don't even take b12 supplements.
I called up to speak to the GP to be told that as he'd marked it as normal I didn't need to speak to him. I couldn't even pass a message on. I know you shouldn't Google, but abnormally high b12 can be liver or kidney problems or even cancer. My b12 is 3 times higher than it's ever been, and my GP has marked it as normal. I've got a weekend of worry and am thoroughly annoyed that I couldn't even request a call back for clarity.
Has anyone else had high b12 levels, and it all been ok?
