Would you expect a neighbour to ask when using your bin?

If you were going to put stuff in a neighbours bin on the night before collection would you ask beforehand if it was ok? Or would you just do it?

Yes I would expect people to ask permission to use our bins.

Absolutely. I always ask if bulky. If was the odd thing and already out for collection I may just drop it in. But our collection location isn't at the house.

I would. The only time I don’t ask is when walking and I see a discarded bottle or lager can and the blue bins are out, I’ll just lob this 1 item of street rubbish into the nearest blue bin.

No. But we're on very good terms with our neighbours. They were witnesses at our wedding.

(oh dear, did I cross the streams on Mumsnet, feed after midnight, etc. etc. t by saying that? 😂)

I’d expect them to ask. Because often I’ve still got rubbish to put in it in the morning. So even if it was out I’d still be topping it up.

Yes, I’d expect them to but wouldn’t care much if they didn’t.

If it has space then they may as well use it.

Yes .. I often put my out but whip a bag on when it's out so will expect there to be space . I have had this happen before and will give it back to them 🤷‍♀️

Yes and it's an ongoing problem for me with neighbours next door but one. Like the PP I put my black bin out the night before and often have a full inside bin that I want to add. Only to find they've overfilled it so my bag won't fit.

As far as I'm aware putting your rubbish in some one else's bin without permission is actually classed as a form of fly tipping and is illegal.

My neighbours moved abroad for a bit so rented their house out to various neighbours

I was so pissed off when one man got his DD out their recycling in my bin I went outside and told him to take it back out again Grin

I have never been that petty before but I hated how he shouted at his young DC at times

I always ask my neighbour and only put in dry stuff not a bin that may leak and stink the bin out.
