New Johnson's baby powder formula

I know they've changed from talc to cornstarch due to litigation, but for the love of God, can they make the dispensing holes smaller? It used to take my toddler whole minutes to empty a tub of the stuff all over himself, the room and the dog. Now he can do it in seconds.

How about a child lock on the lid, Johnson?

Do you need it? I never used it

Spenditlikebeckham · 06/09/2024 09:40

Does it still smell the same?

GenAvocadoOnToast · 06/09/2024 09:41

Keep it out of his reach?

It's a want, not a need 🙂

Why has your toddler got hold of it in the first place? And what on earth do you use it for?
I know a lady who uses it to stop a medical device sticking to the skin but I can't say I have needed it for a baby related reason.

No! That lovely clean baby smell (until the next explosion) is no more.

This. It’s horrible stuff and smells vile.

Mumsnet hates baby powder, OP. You won't get anything but lectures.

But I use it on my feet and I like it and I am not sorry. Haven't noticed the new tub design yet though because it lasts years.

LlynTegid · 06/09/2024 09:56

Johnson's baby powder is not named after the former Prime Minister and however many children he has fathered. They could attribute their profit margin to him alone no doubt.

susiedaisy1912 · 06/09/2024 09:58

I use it everyday. Love it.

Haters gonna hate 🙂

They changed the formula because people have died from cancers caused by asbestos in talc. They tried to manipulate the test results and denied there was a problem, so I would not be trusting them personally.

I wouldn't use 'baby' powder.

ChristmasFluff · 06/09/2024 10:24

This is the podcast all about what they did: https://www.stitcherstudios.com/shows/verified-dust-up

and they've since claimed bankruptcy to avoid paying out compensation.

For once I'm with MN and wouldn't trust them or give them my money.

I'll use it to thicken custard then 🙂

I think that unlikely unless they were eating it at every meal. And at snack time too! 🙄

Cornstarch is a far better formula
I have it for sandy feet at the beach, it's an essential!

DeCaray · 06/09/2024 11:21

I never bothered listening to the scare mongering.

I love talcum powder and have used it for decades and will continue to do so.

www.fda.gov/cosmetics/cosmetic-ingredients/talc

'Published scientific literature going back to the 1960s has suggested a possible association between the use of powders containing talc in the genital area and the incidence of ovarian cancer. However, these studies have not conclusively demonstrated such a link, or if such a link existed, what risk factors might be involved. More research is needed to confirm if there is a link or not. In addition, questions about the potential contamination of talc with asbestos have been raised since the 1970s.'

So does my bloke. I love the way he smells too.

At least you can hoover up baby powder. There is a reason I never allowed sudocreme in the house and that reason was my nice and their sofa.

Tagyoureit · 06/09/2024 11:29

Yes the cornstarch is weird!

I use a bit on dd after swimming and for my feet but it does feel weird and I miss the old smell too!

Definitely. Our local beach had a weird sort of sand that sticks to our legs like it's glued on. Powder works better than water to get it off.

My husband described it as 'squeakier' than the old stuff.

🤣 I can't believe how far a single melted chocolate button can layer onto everything! It defies physics.

They don't make the holes smaller because it is a requirement of parenting that something gets dispensed in it's entirety over something it's not meant to on. The large holes are there to save that something being i don't know, Sudocrem, a brand new Bio Oil, all your make up or your expensive perfume you just treated yourself to. Just to pick a few things from no where and not from personal experience or anything...
