Behaved ‘like animals’. Animals behave better.

To be pissed off with hearing that whenever humans behave badly, they ‘behaved like animals’. What bullshit! Animals aren’t malicious or intentionally cruel. Stop giving animals a bad rep! Humans are behaving like humans when they’re being cunts.

I fully agree. I think the point is really that we should have the moral and intellectual capacity to behave better than animals and degrade ourselves by behaving as less than we can be - for example an animal will understandably kill because of hunger or fear, whereas we should be capable of considering the bigger costs/issues.

We are animals. Animals also fight and kill for territory and domination over another animal of the same species who goes into their territory, which us basically what humans are doing. We are one of the great apes. Other great apes are pretty aggressive. Cats have killed 80% of the world's starlings. They weren't just really hungry. They wanted to chase and kill to impress their food provider. We should know better but the way humans behave is animalistic in nature.

Animals defecate, and sniff each others bums in the street , but that's all they know, whereas we're supposed know better 🤔 maybe .

I kind of see what you mean. But it's absolutely not true about animals only killing out of fear or hunger. If you've ever seen what a fox will do to a henhouse or cat just in its day to day life you'll know it's not true. My problem with the saying is more that it suggests the human was somehow absolved of rational thought-they were acting instinctively.

Rummly · 06/09/2024 06:37

Because humans are expected to behave within a moral and legal code. Animals are not.

Having seen how packs of feral dogs can behave when left to do what they want, I would say it is quite an appropriate term. A lot of animal eat their own young, cruelly pick off the weaker ones…

It's well documented certain animals kill for sport, fight, murder their young and even commit rape. It's said because they seemingly don't have a conscience that hold them to human moral standards, whereas we are supposed to!

KrisAkabusi · 06/09/2024 08:12

Dolphins rape their own and other species. Chimps hunt monkeys for sport. Lions kill other males children. Nature isn't all cute cat videos and pandas eating bamboo.

Jennyathemall · 06/09/2024 08:20

How ridiculous to be offended on an animals behalf.

They also rape (ducks) and kill for pleasure (cats and foxes).

This is probably why the saying ' behaving like animals' is appropriate. Humans are the only species ( maybe in the universe) with a conscience and consciousness of other things around us and the feeling of others, including other species. Behaving like animals means behaving as if we don't have that.
