To think they should have given more info and reassurance?

Went for a growth scan today, been told baby’s femurs are measuring on the 3rd centile (30 weeks).

Placenta functioning well and baby is estimated about 3lbs, and above average for all their other measurements. Just small legs.

I’ve been referred to fetal medicine and told I should hear within the next two weeks. The only thing the midwife could say was ‘it might be fine, but it can sometimes mean something is not right’. No direction to any resources, further info or support.

This is our rainbow baby, I was only just starting to relax but now my worry is now off the charts again that there could be something amiss.

I am from a family of women who are no taller than 5ft 3, but DH is over 6ft with very long legs, so it does not sound right to me.

I can’t focus on work and just feel so irritable because I’m stressed about it and feel like I will be now until the consultant can see me.

AIBU to think the health professionals should give people more info in a situation like this rather than just sending them home to google for themselves?

I hope all goes well and can see why you feel anxious being given almost no more information about it.

Personally, I'd prefer to wait and speak to the specialist rather than be given incorrect or possibly inaccurate information by someone less experienced in the area. Hopefully your appointment will be soon and you can get the answers you seek.

They aren't qualified to tell you & so can't. It's a precaution & most likely every thing fine. If I listed all the things that could be wrong I doubt it would lessen your anxiety & prob do the opposite. Google is definitely not going to help you.
The vast majority of times it is a precaution & all is okay. If she had told you don't worry nothing is wrong & then you were given a devastating diagnosis then that would be far worse.

They don't know anymore themselves hence the referral.

Currently there's no further info to tell you.
