When does your child's nursery send you the monthly invoice and how long do you have to pay it?

Hello,

First DC has just started nursery. Was told that payment would be due on the 1st of every month however, I've not yet received an invoice and every time I ask the manager she says it'll be sent soon. She says it needs to be paid between 1st-7th of every month.

Still not received an invoice and it's the 4th. The nursery handbook states that payment is due on the 1st of every month and that any late payments will incur a late fee charge.

Not sure if she's just behind with the invoices but every time I ask it seems to be brushed under the carpet for some reason?

How does it work at your DC's nursery?

Thanks

They don’t send a monthly invoice we pay weekly every Monday for that week ahead, it’s always the same amount.

Surely you don’t need an invoice and you know how much the fee is?

We get them on the 20th to be paid by the 30th, although I know a few parents who pay around the 8th due to payday and nursery seem fine with that.

We get ours towards the end of the month for the next month. So end of Aug I will get September's invoice emailed to me. There is no stipulation as to when it should be paid. I usually pay promptly but one month I completely forgot and the money was sitting in my gov childcare account for the whole month. Next months invoice just had both months on it.. no one even got in touch to say I hadn't paid! I was embarrassed though.

you know the invoice is coming and roughly how much it costs each month, so make sure the payment is put aside ready to pay- it’s straightforward really.
I run a children’s out of school activity, payments are due on the 1st- if I send invoices out more than a few days before they are due people conveniently forgotten they that they have received them. When I send them a few days before the 1st, people then want weeks and weeks to pay it (!). Just put the money aside ready.

Ours usually send it around the 1st (sometimes a few days before, sometimes a few days after). Technically I think they say they're due by the 5th, but we do sometimes pay it late (different amount each month) and they've never once chased us.

I would just assume that your nursery are more relaxed than their T&Cs.

Monthly payment made in advance (ie I've already paid September's hours) by 1st month (although occasionally I've forgotten and they remind and give a little leeway). The invoice is usually sent around 15th of the previous month.

We get the invoice middle of the month, due on the 1st of the following month. So I’ll get Octobers invoice on or around the 15th September and then have 2 weeks to pay it.

Not all nurseries are alike; our fee changes each month as months are different lengths, have a different number of, say, Mondays (which we use) and Wednesdays (which we don’t).

OP, our invoice comes mid-month for the next month, due by the first. They’re scrupulous about sending so they’re hot on late payments. I wouldn’t worry about a late payment charge if they haven’t actually sent the invoice; they’re contradicting their own T&Cs and you can’t be expected to pay a non-existent invoice.

MammaTo · 04/09/2024 12:07

Mine don’t send an invoice, we just set up a standing order to pay them weekly.

Thank you everyone.

I chased it up with the manager again and she sent it afterwards.

I've got the money aside but it's my first time sending a child to nursery and u wasn't sure if I'd need to pay any admin fee or any type of VAT or anything extra on top so was waiting.

Also I know this sounds weird but I felt as if I was stealing because the payment is due on the 1st in advance for the month and my daughter has been attending and I've not paid - weird I know.

I just wanted to know if the amount I had in mind mirrors what they charged me
