Mid term properly inspection

I feel like I'm about to be absolutely beat down in the comments for this but we just had a property inspection and I'm full of rage.

Yes we've had them before, yes I understand the reasons for them but it just feels like such an icky invasion of our privacy. It's not even like it's the actual landlord or even the estate agents. It was a random awkward young girl from some third party company taking photos of every angle of every room of the house. Like here you go everyone - have a photo of the toilets we use everyday and the beds we sleep in. Eurgh.

It just feels like if you're rich enough to own a home you have a right to live in privacy. If not anyone random person can just come in and judge you.

The photos just seem so unnecessary. Why can't the person come in - make sure you haven't trashed the place and then take photos if there is any actual problems?! I just want to live in peace and I feel like we pay enough every blinkin' month to be left alone 😡

So anyway! I am being unreasonable to think the photos are over the top and it's an unnecessary invasion of privacy? Or do you think it's perfectly acceptable for a random to take photos of the inside of your lived in house for other random people to see? And no we have nothing to hide and the house was pristine - it still doesn't change how gross and humiliating I find it.

I appreciate it’s not nice but the photos protect both you and the landlord, it means when it comes to leaving time if there has been an issue at mid term that hasn’t been dealt with there is photographic evidence, and it protects the landlord from tenants who can later claim there was xyz wrong if there is photographic evidence to disprove.

It can also help spot any potential maintenance issues that appear that you may not notice if there’s a room you rarely use for example.

I can appreciate as a tenant though it can be frustrating but it is needed for your sake as much as the landlords

Also landlord’s are usually recommended to use a third party company to do these as those reports are better for any damage disputes x

It protects you as much as the landlord. At check out they will use these photos for any deposit disputes and also it’s much less awkward and invasive than if it was your landlord doing it. I used to do this job and believe me I felt a lot more awkward than you when I was photographing peoples stuff but its just how it is when you rent someone else’s home 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree

It just feels a bit uncomfortable them taking the photos.

They didn't used to take photos in the past. Sounds like it's beginning to become common to take photos now
