And that Western countries are not doing enough to promote peace between nations. It could take any of the international tensions to spark global warfare. Russia, China and its neighbours, Israel. Palestine and the Middle East.

When I was at school we were expecting the 4 minute warning, the time we were supposedly getting in advance of a nuclear bomb attack. That was so many years ago the old Queen was actually quite young! Chill

Weren’t we supposed to paint our windows white and sit under a matress in the airing cupboard? 🤣

Everyone was going to burn their eyes out looking at the eclipse in 1999, and England would be gridlocked for days on end because of people "flocking" to see it.

The Millennium Bug was going to wipe everything out.

Everybody's brains were going to be fried by their mobile phones. (And that was before smart phones, which could be accused of adding people's minds in a different way.)

We were going to be wiped out by weapons of mass destruction, so a little bird decided to... start a war.

People "flocking" to the beaches and buying Easter eggs and breaking into playgrounds were going to kill granny.

And in other news, nobody in the media learns the lesson of the boy who cried wolf.

Thanks for the read! Just goes to show how much of an achievement our relatively peaceful civilisation is, and how fragile. We take our accomplishments for granted and spend too much on using technology for the wrong purposes.

And what can you do about any of this? Please tell me?
