Just bought DD new pack of play doh for her birthday, her best friend came round to play and she's mixed up all the play doh colours. Every single one. Every pot now looks like a Zap lolly (if you're old enough to remember).

Yes there are naturally more important things but please tell me this would irk you too.

Errors, big hug
It will get better I'm sure.
As for play doh I can conjure up the smell as I speak! I can see why your annoyed though op
Plus all these activity things are not that cheap anymore either

Just4thisthreadtoday · 02/09/2024 14:14

@SunshineAndFizz

you need to get a new set & spend time playing with DD to show her the JOY in keeping the colours separate. Flowers, pumpkins, burgers, houses, different colored cats, frogs, dogs. all the nice things you can make with distinct colours.

we had a separate pot for the little bits that accidentally became squished together.

I have nothing to say about play-doh. But Zaps. Jesus wept, I loved Zaps.

Arrivapercy · 02/09/2024 14:27

I give mine plasticine. Its bloody hard work to mix the colours with plasticine, so kudos to any kid that manages it. Plus you can use water with it and make bowls and jugs and pipes.

Its miles better than playdo.

Oh yeah, plasticine! That's a blast from the past, I remember that from when I was a kid.

Ahhh why. Just why?!!

I mean.. its going to end up that way anyway 😂

Theunamedcat · 02/09/2024 16:39

The price of that mixed up play dough? Seriously OP has a child that will make that mess for free

angeldelite · 02/09/2024 16:42

Sadly I think this was bound to happen with a visiting child. I’d have hidden it.

WhatFlavourIsIt · 02/09/2024 16:50

I think it's designed to turn that sludge brown colour so that when it gets trodden into the carpet, it blends in better.

5128gap · 02/09/2024 16:55

Nowhere near as bad as when they mess with Barbies hair or (horrors!) wash it and it looks like a frizzy nylon clump ever after. 😥

Oh we haven't reached this point yet - I'll brace myself 😂

Hmm, could be worse. Every doll I had as a child was shorn of all hair by my younger sister - Barbie, Sindy, Tiny Tears and Penny Puppywalker were all assaulted by her scissors. She would also colour in the naked scalp with felt pen afterwards (usually yellow). No punishment worked, she’d get the doll no matter how long she had to wait for an opportunity.

She’s a hairdresser so free hairdos - that’s something I suppose.

KreedKafer · 02/09/2024 21:14

This would have absolutely INFURIATED me as a child 🤣 I used to hate it when other kids mixed up Play-Doh or Plasticine colours. I also hated having to share my felt tip pens with kids who left the lids off them or pressed too hard and mucked up the nibs.

Soberfutures · 02/09/2024 21:24

Fabric softener usually sorts barbies hair back to normal from my kids "wonderful" experiments

Soberfutures · 02/09/2024 21:28

And my rant today is bloody Facebook posts of darling kids and school "journeys" and "will be crying all day" posts. I love my kids more than anything but it's not a competition. Also the ones of "can't wait to get them out of my hair (tinkly laugh)"

I may just be cranky 😠

They sell some with TWO COLOURS IN ONE POT

madness

Noooo! I couldn't cope with that!

Tagyoureit · 03/09/2024 08:36

Well if it makes you feel better, I don't allow playdoh or slime in the house!
🤢

Theunamedcat · 03/09/2024 08:37

my rant of today is this week my son has been offered a school place its not local it might not even be suitable ive got to see it and sort transport etc HOWEVER im INNUNDATED by people telling me i should "just send him to mainstream hun" "he will be fiiiinee" "dont make a big deal out of his autism and he wont even notice" like 🙄you think you know more than all the professionals involved in his care? we have been trying for a special school for TWO YEARS he is supposed to be starting year 7 the only reason he got through primary is because they put in a HUGE amount of interventions we struggled and you YOU who have had nothing to do with him on a daily basis think you know him best? five years behind academically the memory of a goldfish the mind of a much younger child and then some but no lets stuff him in a mainstream secondary because it will be "fine"

special needs in the family is not something to be embarrassed about

Sexyshrek · 03/09/2024 08:37

When my kids were play doh age we still had my hungry beast of a labrador. SO many play doh models stolen and eaten and then either thrown up or pooped out whole.

Ponoka7 · 03/09/2024 08:39

B&M have plasticine. With some friends you have to supervise more closely or remove some toys.
@Errors it sounds like Peri. Menopause. If under 45, ideally you should be on HRT.
My rant is the lack of seaded burger buns, everywhere is just doing brioche, which doesn't go as well with Ostrich burgers.
