AIBU to wonder if freezing with liquid nitrogen is the only way to get rid of a wart?

I have had a wart on the knuckle of my middle finger for maybe 2 years now. Apart from looking unsightly, it hurts when I catch it on things. I can't knock a door without it hurting for example! I am female aged 59, if that is relevant.

The Doctor has treated it with liquid nitrogen 7 times but it is showing no signs of disappearing. The Doctor is just suggesting zapping it with liquid nitrogen every month to try and get it to go. However, I am beginning to think that this treatment will never work. Does anyone know of any other treatments I can try?

Which ones did you choose please?

Scholl

I read on the box they're not actually supposed to be used for under 16s after I'd already used about 3, but they worked for my 7 year old.

I've successfully sliced warts off with a scalpel and cauterised it with hydrogen peroxide. I've done it a few times on different warts which were completely resistant to freezing and it has always worked, but I'm not a medic, home surgery isn't for everyone etc.

Most of these things are a coincidence, or they will somehow have triggered an immune response, which is the only way they are going to go. Hence them suddenly disappearing after years. I had a massive one on my foot for years. I tried all sorts & often had a crater where I had treated it, filed it etc. one day it vanished, never to return.

I swear by Verrugon it’s a green and yellow packet. It’s got rid of any I have had. I pop a corn plaster over the wart/verruca and the cream inside it then completely cover it with a plaster and leave it a few days, then repeat and it flicks off after a week or so. It might need a third one but it’s always worked for me.

WARTNER!
I had a wart for years so was desperate. I blasted it with wartner freezing stuff for 20 seconds longer than it said to do, let the top fall off after a few days. Then blasted the roots underneath again for longer than I should, and that fell off after a week or two. Totally smooth skin underneath, I was so happy I cried 😂

So basically I went rogue with the instructions. Firstly doing it longer than it says to, and secondly giving the roots a go once the top crust had come off.

And throw in some banana skin.

Was the only think that worked for me and I had tried EVERY other option first

Banana skin worked for me too. Haven't had any since.

Forgot to add.. after that experience I realised it was all about getting to the soft bit underneath to treat that. Which the instructions never say. So when my daughter had verrucas I filed them down with a nail file to get past the hard bit, and then put the treatment on. They were all gone in a few weeks!

Daughter’s verucca - emery board to open “pores” on it, then top with slice of garlic clove, cover with tape (black carpet fitter tape/duct tape). Change garlic slice daily. Don’t leave tape off at any point - the tape suffocating it seems to be the thing. Took about four days.
