Article in Spiked by Jo Bartosch: "Australia has abolished womanhood"
The article usefully sets out the case and the legal point decided under Australian law, namely that 'legal' sex is the operative factor in the claim of exclusion from a women's group:
As the author Jo B puts it
"Reading the ruling, it is clear that Justice Bromwich understands that blokes can’t become Sheilas; he just didn’t think that biology was relevant to the case. Instead, he stuck to a narrow, administrative understanding of sex and gender, stating that ‘Tickle is a legal female, as reflected in her updated birth certificate issued under Queensland law’ (sic)."

The AIBU? is to be less worried than the author that this is about to become a precedent for countries across the world, although it may have some influence.
There will probably be an appeal to a higher court in Australia.
It's one country's law and that country will be as likely to be influenced by developments and courts elsewhere as it is to influence them.
Have we anything useful to offer from our own courts - High to Supreme - that could help? I mean, help in the sense of acknowledging the status and protection of women's rights.
