Going to the Theatre alone

Is going to the Theatre alone sad and lonely?
I like plays in London but it seems more of an effort these days finding someone to join me.
But it's also boring having no one to chat with after..

The other advantage of going alone is that no matter how hot a show or play is, there is usually almost always a single seat dotted here or there that’s available. If you were in a pair or larger you’d miss out.

I go solo to the theatre a lot as it’s not DPs thing at all. You seem to have some wrong assumptions OP.

First it doesn’t cost more to go solo as there is way around avoiding leaving single seats when booking (also if there are several free in a row you only need to buy one)

Second musicals are not all full of drunk females. Yes there a couple with that reputation but the vast majority are not like that at all. Fair enough if that’s not your preference but wrong to rule them out for a wrong assumption

I used to do this a lot when I was single, gigs, dinner, cinema, even a city break once. Thoroughly enjoyable! Usually go with DH now but would have no issue going solo, it's very liberating. In fact if I lived closer to the city I'd still be doing it, it's just quite a journey now.

Solo city breaks are wonderful. No one’s preferences to cater to. My ideal London weekend solo is arrive, exhibition, lunch, exhibition, drink, early dinner at Bocca di Lupo (or Moro if going to Sadler’s Wells or Almeida), theatre or classical music concert, long bath, excellent sleep in high thread count sheets, breakfast somewhere interesting, Columbia Road flower market, walk down Brick Lane (get a bagel if had no breakfast), Whitechapel Gallery if anything on there, or Wigmore Hall Sunday lunchtime recital, another exhibition, some form of tapas/ restaurant that serves all day, some form of drink depending on how I’m getting home. I love London.

I was so confused by this too! What do you mean OP?

I sometimes go to the Curzon cinemas and much prefer being in the back row or 2nd to back row. Small cinemas and loud.
Have Always preferred towards the back in cinemas.
Anyway with curzon the seats at the back are like double sofas so you hope no one else sits next to you that is a stranger.
I just would of course prefer having a little bit of space.

Are you going to see A Chorus Line? I just went to see it two weeks ago on my own, I might add, as it is not DH's thing.

Yes. I loved it! Saw the film when it first came out in the 80s, and didn't realise how many of the songs I remembered. Great dancing, and I loved the theatre. My first time there.
