I am done. Sick of the 6 weeks holidays.
I'm trying to juggle it all and finally tonight ive had a gutsful

Sick of the nagging and "im bored, im bored" when my child has everything. Partner who is in work calls can i drop food down, he knows his shifts as theyre the same as theyve always been but is always unprepared and can never make food for himself

Im in the middle of doing the house out, im the one doing all the cleaning, and parenting right now as im off work too during the holidays. The weather here is shit which makes doing the house and everything else even harder.

Im just done. I dont know what this thread is meant to achive but i cannot be bothereed anymore and need a week away in solitude

You read the posts. You know he struggles and has a difficult job. So he can't make lunch. That has been clarified.

He can make some things. But he could ask me in the morning to help or pick stuff up during shopping.

But this was an hour before his break. I began making it and fucked it up so rang and said dinner wont be coming and you should have arranged it ealier before you started work

The awful job comment I assumed to be in relation to him doing cleaning- ie making a bad job of it

this bloke needs to man the fuck up and pitch in at home.

"Can never" make food? Stop doing it and I think you'll find he can. Or obtain it somewhere else. Don't be one of those women who wears martyrdom like some weird badge of honour.

How many children do you have.

Lessons from my own childhood: my old mum’s reply to ‘I’m bored’ was always ‘boredom is a state of mind, not an absence of things to do.’ Tough love, but some boredom here and there won’t harm a child and may teach them to find things to stimulate them. My dad used to insist on not one but two cooked meals a day and would come home from work midday to eat then rush off. Mum got (understandably) very tired of this and the workload and, do you know what, dad got used to sandwiches. You have family members a bit too comfortable while you’re run ragged. What would they do if you were too unwell to do what you do? Your child won’t be emotionally scarred by a few dull afternoons and your chap can learn to make a sandwich. You also matter.

21andcountingtoday · 21/08/2024 22:41

Can you wear her out at park for a few hours every day so when she’s home she can hopefully draw, play lego, watch a movie or game etc and will be too tired to moan?

21andcountingtoday · 21/08/2024 22:43

And DH needs to sort his own food out, I’d be telling him, you’ve got a child that needs attention and you don’t need a man-child as well

Because he struggles to make meals at times. We've argued in the past as I've said it's easy enough to make a small meal and packed lunch but he never does

No not all summer

He's taking the absolute piss. If he can work full time he can make a sandwich. Fucking hell.

InevitableNameChanger · 22/08/2024 08:47

I'd take her on a few days trips, it will ease her boredom and solve the meal making thing because you simply won't be able to assist on those days.

Not being capable of making a sandwich is pathetic. However, when my dc were on packed lunches I used to buy packs of big bread rolls and make about 2 day's worth of various kinds, wrap in cling film and stick them in the fridge. Everybody helped themselves. It took less than 30 minutes on 3 evenings a week.
Batch cooking, with your dd helping, is a fun activity to do and you can freeze in portions. All my dc learned to cook and bake this way. 9 is a great age to start. Ditto meal planning and budgeting. By the time they were 12 or 13 they could prepare and cook meals for the family.

Home made pizzas are great fun to make. They can put all sorts of toppings on.

Makingchocolatecake · 22/08/2024 22:22

If dp forgets his lunch he needs to take a stash of microwave stuff he can leave in a cupboard/car and stop bothering you!
