OP posts:
Madamecholetsbonnet · 21/08/2024 19:21

Walk at 7 - 8 then start working (wfh)

Cuddles and chat throughout the day and a short trot around the block at lunchtime.

Walk again at 5:30.

If I have to go out to see clients he stays in alone, but I would never leave him more than four hours.

Jellycatspyjamas · 21/08/2024 19:25

Up at 6.30, walk til 7/7.15 (he’s a puppy so can’t go too far), playing and training on and off til I start work at 9, he sleeps in his crate til lunchtime, out for a toilet walk, potters around in the afternoon, has a nap and back out again when I finish around 5. I WFH mostly, if I’m in the office a dog sitter comes in morning and afternoon for an hour at a time.

WFH Days:
Morning- 6:30-8am walk
Lunchtime- 12:30-1pm walk
After work- 5pm-6:30pm walk

Office Days
6am-7:30am walk
Dog walker picks up at 11am and takes him on a long walk with other dogs, drops him back off at 1pm
I get home at 3:30 and then take him out 4:30-6pm

Sonolanona · 21/08/2024 19:28

Work days either I take her out at 6.30, or DS2 takes her at 8am as he starts work at lunch time. Dog walker comes around 1pm and takes her for an hour (or more in good weather..she's fab) I'm home at 3.30 pm and she is never left alone more than 2 hours. She has two 1 hour walks a day. Last wee at 10.30pm in the garden.

brawhen · 21/08/2024 19:29

Walk at 8, back by 8:45
Mooches/sleeps in office
Walk round nearby park at lunchtime - if timings work, this includes a run about with balls with a set of dog-friends
Flat out in office until 5:30ish
Home for dinner, mooches in garden
Walk or run in evening after dinner - 15 to 90 mins depending on weather, other stuff on etc.

Craftycariad · 21/08/2024 19:38

I lost my fur baby a few weeks ago but she came to work with me slept by the side of my desk. Tool out for a walk before work , at lunchtime and straight afterwards. If I had to go somewhere she couldn't come she went to a home from home day care and was spoiled with a leather sofa in front of a wood burner fire lol
Worked for us for 10 years

Bemusedandconfusedagain · 21/08/2024 19:41

If I'm in the office he goes to a home based day care from 9am to 5pm. If I'm working from home he gets a good hour walk in the morning, walk round the block in the evening, various garden trips inbetween.

Doggymummar · 21/08/2024 19:44

I get up at six, she had her breakfast we do for a walk when it gets light for about 40 minutes.

1pm she has a long with treats

I work from home so she has access to the garden all day

5pm dinner

5.30 walk

7pm a biscuit and she goes to bed

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 21/08/2024 19:50

Oh mine loves her routine and tells me off if I don't stick to it!
Wakes up just after I log on for work about 9ish, comes into my home office for fuss. Tells me to get her breakfast. If I don't get it immediately she go back to sleep, on the floor or on the sofa. First meal is anytime between 9:30 and 10:30 depending on meetings.
Out for a wee and a chat through the fence with next doors dog, sometimes a bit of sniffing, zoomies or sunbathing, then more sleep.
Lunchtime walk if it's not too hot. If too hot then a bit of fuss and more sleep.
Walk after work about 20-30 mins, she'll turn round when she's had enough, sometimes she'll take me to the pub as they give good fuss there.
Second meal at 7ish then more sleep.
Out in the garden before bed, another chat with the neighbours dog, her bedtime is about 9:30 and she'll be telling me it ought to be my bedtime too. She's not wrong but habits are hard to break.

She's not a fan of toys, prefers just to sniff and toddle about. Zoomies are very brief. Loves a licki mat on occasion and is very suspicious of new things.

LennyBalls · 21/08/2024 20:00

6:00am she wakes up and starts pawing at the living room door. Let her out in the garden and feed her. Take her for a walk about 6:30am until 7:00am.
Another half hour ish walk at lunch time.
Dinner at about 6:00pm
Long walk / run around about 6:30.
She goes on her bed about 7:30pm and sleeps through until 6:00am and we go again !!!!

noctilucentcloud · 21/08/2024 20:10

On days I wfh, he gets a walk at some point in the morning and afternoon (working around meetings, the weather and how we're both feeling). When I'm working he either dozes in another room or by my desk or under my desk or in the garden.

On days I'm in the office, I work part time so am gone 6-7 hours total. So a walk before work, then I have a dog walker that comes in 2-3 hours later and takes him out, then I'm back about 3 hours after that. I have an old dog, so in between those walks he dozes on the sofa, plays with toys himself or watches the world go by from an armchair.

He gets quite a bit of attention in the evenings - play, training, walk, fuss - and I don't tend to leave him in the evening if he's been left during the day. Same for the weekends, he's maybe left 2-3 hours but the rest of the weekend I'm around.

Four hours of walks a day? Have I misunderstood? What kind of breed?

Serenity45 · 21/08/2024 20:21

DH and I both WFH, though he needs to travel occasionally. Our 3 year old lab is usually up with us at 8ish, 20 minutes or so in garden chasing a ball after her morning wee/poo. Has breakfast then snoozles until lunchtime. Back door open unless it's freezing so she can potter in and out (will sometimes come upstairs for a fuss/play with tug toy/lie next to me).

We back onto a park so lunch hour is spent walking/chasing ball/possibly playing with other dogs. Has a carrot when back home and will snooze until I finish work (again might sleep in my office or come for a fuss).

After work we will usually go for a more relaxed sniff walk (no balls!) as a few local woodlands/commons within a 5 minute drive. Has her dinner when we get back which is usually between 6-7pm.

Pretty much sleeps all evening bar a bit of polite begging while we eat.

Jellycatspyjamas · 21/08/2024 20:22

@Madamecholetsbonnet apologies, very remiss of me. Here he is, 4 months old and full of life.

Oh what a beauty @Jellycatspyjamas 😍😍😍

Jellycatspyjamas · 21/08/2024 20:25

He was very proud of his first puppy groom in that pic, nice and tidy up top and fluff everywhere else.

He's so cute, he doesn't quite look real, more like a puppet or children's cuddly toy!

When WFH, get up before the dog is awake. Have a coffee, the madam reluctantly gets up about 8 and asks to be let out to the garden. Start work, walk at lunch, she sleeps in the garden in all weathers. Another walk in the evening. I can leave her at home if needs be, she howls for about 5 minutes then settles. (That’s according to our neighbours).
When in the office, get up, wake up the dog and force her on a morning walk. She sulks. Then feed, give a few treats and leave for work making sure I hide anything made with leather. Get back around 4, walk. She then sleeps in the garden until it’s time to lock up for the night.
Sometimes partner will take her to work with him. I gather she sleeps for most of the day there. She is an older dog, couldn’t do it with a puppy.

YarsidokaLoafer · 21/08/2024 20:53

I wake up at 6am.
Walk dog from 6.30 to 7.30am
Dog's breakfast at 8am.
I leave for work at 8.30am and give the dog a frozen Kong to keep her busy.
Adult DC works from home so between Teams meetings might remember to let the dog out in the garden!
I return home from work at 2pm.
I'll walk the dog for an hour at around 4pm (earlier in the depths of winter when it's dark at 4pm).

Furrydogmum · 21/08/2024 21:14

My parents live with us, mum is retired, if they didn't I wouldn't work, or would probably become a dog walker/pet visitor..

ChilliPB · 21/08/2024 21:21

I WFH four days a week and go into the office one day a week. I choose the day around DH’s schedule (he’s not flexible but I am) so either one or both of us is home all week.

Our dog gets her main walk at lunchtime - it works for me to have a longer break over lunch as my work is pretty flexible. Before/after work she just has a wee etc although in the summer we might go for a longer after work walk if it’s a nice evening. And then a couple of days a week she gets a longer walk - when one/both of us are not working - for example on Sunday it was three/four hours out with us hiking.

Schedule will vary massively depending on dog breed/nature/age. My dog is 10 and she’s a mix of breeds that don’t need lots of exercise - my schedule looks very different to someone who has a young/high energy dog!

CrushingOnRubies · 21/08/2024 23:13
