To expect hair appointment to begin promptly?

Salon always cuts my hair well, although is expensive, but it drives me mad that at every appointment I’m left sitting for a minimum of 15 minutes before the hair cut actually starts. Sometimes longer! I wouldn’t mind occasionally - can understand that perhaps some clients hair has taken longer than expected etc. but every time just seems like poor management.

I also had an appt cancelled due to illness when I’d already arrived at the salon, they were apologetic but no offer of any compensation or for someone else to step in. I’d taken annual leave from work and travelled a fair distance, and had to rebook at an inconvenient new time to get a new appt (having waited months for the cancelled one!) and take more leave.

Is this a bit poor, or am I being unreasonable?

I can’t imagine taking annual leave and travelling a fair distance to a hairdresser, tbh. Maybe if you went locally, in your normal time off, you wouldn’t get so annoyed about this?

I used to go to one where I regularly had to wait half an hour. Then one time I realised it had been 45 minutes and I was still waiting. I walked out and found a new salon, I really don’t know why I put up with it for so long really - at the time I had two young children so me time was v scarce!

The previous salon I went to was really bad about this. They often said it was because the person ahead of me had been late - so that were using up my time as of course I arrived promptly. I left after the time when I was sitting waiting for my appointment for 30 minutes - by which I mean I just got up and exited the salon. Nobody notice at the time but they rang me about 20 minutes later to ask where I was. Needless to say I did not pay the cancellation charge.

The salon I go to now has an excellent manager. The occasional cockup is sorted with a massive apology, buckets of coffee and a discount at the till. It make all the difference

Mine does this a lot. I usually make my appointment first thing...9am or 9.30 so no one in before me, but she still makes me wait! Puts me in a bit of a mood tbhConfused

Depends if you have a type of hair that needs a specific type of cut to be fair. Unfortunately this can make the options more limited

Mine books up well in advance. There was nothing for months on an evening or weekend. So I went next best, a late afternoon slot so I’d just need to take part of the afternoon off. They’re obviously in demand so I guess as someone above said, It doesn’t matter if they piss some customers off because they’re got plenty more waiting.
