To request a charge back?

Two weeks ago, I had a tummy tuck and started lymphatic drainage massages as recommended by my surgeon. I chose a therapist who assured me she was fully trained and registered in post-op massage. I paid £430 for six sessions, which is a considerable amount. So far, I’ve had three massages.

On Monday, after my third massage, I went straight to my nurse for a two-week post-op check-up. As soon as I removed my compression garment, the nurse immediately noticed a large seroma that was leaking significantly through my incision. She hadn’t even touched me yet. When I mentioned the massages, the nurse was alarmed, saying that anyone properly trained should have detected the seroma. The fact that I had just come from a massage session and the therapist missed it was concerning. The nurse also checked the post op registration and found that the therapist is not listed, despite her claims. She advised me to request a refund and stop the sessions.

I contacted the therapist to request a partial refund for the three remaining massages based on the nurse’s medical advice. She refused and claimed the seroma must have developed during the 20 minute drive between the massage and the hospital, which I find impossible. Additionally, the nurse pointed out that the therapist used oil, which should not be applied near open incisions during these types of massages.

The therapist has since offered £100, but when I said this was insufficient, she suggested I return for the remaining massages after the seroma is drained. She also said she noticed something on my stomach on Monday but didn’t raise it which I find odd? I’m uncomfortable with returning. Should I request a chargeback with my bank or just accept the £100?

Don't just accept the hundred.

She lied to you about her qualifications and has potentially put you at risk.
I would be asking for the whole amount for the 6 sessions, and I would also be reporting her to Trading Standards, and to whoever hosted her advertisement.

Thanks. She’s refusing though. Do you it’s worth requesting a charge back? I will look to report.

I would also complain to whoever she is registered too.

You can report her and claim damages

Talk to a solicitor

She isn't, by the sound of it.

100% request a chargeback from the bank for all 6 sessions. And create merry hell for her. She lied about her qualifications, and has put your health in danger. I'd be threatening her loudly with being sued.

Request the charge back. She's not going to take you to court where she will have to explain she put you at risk and laid about her qualifications. She's clearly can't afford to either if she's arguing over hundreds of pounds. I think expecting the 3 sessions left refunded was incredibly reasonable of you. She had her chance.

Request charge backs immediately Christ that's bad

Copperoliverbear · 21/08/2024 01:55

Don't accept the money and she lied about her qualifications, maybe check with the nurse if she knows who you can complain to about this woman's conduct and her qualifications she claims to have.
Also maybe tell her you are going to a small claims court.
Something needs to be done about her, she could seriously injure someone.

Catza · 21/08/2024 08:41

You can try to claim chargeback, there is no harm in it but no guarantee of success either. You can report the therapist to her insurance provider. You may also want to consider small claims court.
Also, make a report to the board where she is supposedly registered. They need to be aware that someone is misleadingly claiming to be their member.
