To hate fancy dress?

My family think I am miserable (they may be correct). My extended family seem to love fancy dress, costume parties, group t shirts, ‘everyone wear pink’ etc etc.

Here are some examples

Halloween-party where everyone was expected to dress up.
Cousins Hen Party- sashes/tshirts and one night was a themed 20s party (dress to theme)
Surprise party for Dsis. BIL was surprising her with a tropical holiday and was having a themed party. He had supplied lays, flower crowns etc for guests to wear

or I’ll arrive and there are party hats, daft glasses, wigs for the Photo Booth

Most of the time, I seem to be the only person not up for it. I’ve never looked at a group of woman in matching t shirts and sashes and thought ‘ah how lovely’.

Most of the time, it’s not even the cost, props are supplied by the host but why do I need to put daft glasses and a flower crown on?

why can’t I come as myself?

Also hate Christmas jumpers 🤣

I hear myself and think ‘miserable cow’.

Am I alone here in my Scrooge like nature?

Totally agree. And whats the big deal with photobooths (or worse the 360 ones) at workevents. I don't want to put on a stupid hat and pose or dance and have it captured on 'film' to share with the whole company to show how 'fun' our office is.
I dont mind being called a
miserable cow because I am 😁

I loath fancy dress. If I go to a party I want to look my best and feel good about myself. A friend had a 40s theme party and everyone went in aprons and turbans. I wore evening trousers, a sequinned jacket and a beret a la Lauren Bacall. The only time I’ve really done fancy dress has been for the GC. Once as a witch and once as a scarecrow and they’ve never forgotten it.

The 360s 🤣 ‘no thanks. I do not want to put on a feather boa and comedy hat and see how stupid I look, dancing in slo mo, from all angles’

Thanks for the solidarity 🤣

In the 1980s my grandad got pulled over by the police very late one night - might have been New Year or something, routine drunk-driver testng.

He was dressed as a frog !
